blueschica Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 This is so sad. I still remember the first time I heard VH on the radio and got goosebumps. RIP, Eddie. You were one of a kind, especially your talent. 4
Derek19 Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 (edited) I've been sorry, to hear, see, and read this. Edward Van Halen passing away at the only age of 65 from throat cancer. He was an amazing, talented guitarist. For the first time, I remember seeing Van Halen on their "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge Tour" in Vancouver, at B.C. Place, and listened to them on their "1984 Tour" in Toronto, at Maple Leaf Gardens. He will be, and is going to be missed. It is similar to Neil Peart's passing earlier this year. My heart, felt condolences, to his family, and friends. R.I.P., Edward (Eddie). Edited October 7, 2020 by Derek19 3
invisible airwave Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 (edited) This year just keeps getting worse. Peart, Chadwick, the Fountains Of Wayne singer, Willard, Reiner, Moranis being hit by a stranger and now this. It's marathon time now even if that means listening to Van Cherone again. RIP Edited October 6, 2020 by invisible airwave 1
lerxt1990 Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 Unreal, though we all knew he was sick, real sick at times. he was special, what a great guitarist and what a band that really rocked. RIP Eddie! 6
IbanezJem Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 (edited) We were talking about this a couple of weeks ago. Just knew it was coming soon. Numbed and shocked and truly devastated.. Love ya, Ed. Deepest thanks for every chord, riff, solo, harmonic... my musical hero and simply the GOAT. Damn. Edited October 6, 2020 by IbanezJem 2
Relayer2112 Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 I knew from recent reading that it appeared he was still fighting cancer. I figured the recent silence wasn't a good thing. He was probably as close to "God's gift to the guitar" that we'll see in our lifetime. I would guess that he inspired more people to pick up a guitar than all others combined. His playing and songwriting will be sorely missed. RIP Eddie. 2
chemistry1973 Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 Numb Yup. Again at work staring into space. Just as with NP.
Entre_Perpetuo Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 He changed everything. This is awful, just awful. A true legend. I've been listening to so much Van Halen lately too. Welp, I've got VHII here on campus with me and that's spinning right now. Rest in peace, Eddie Van Halen. 6
bluefox4000 Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 well this sucks. RIP eddie. Ouch.......damn. Mick
invisible airwave Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 My intro to VH at age 3. My dad passed his love of VH to me. Still takes me back to carefree childhood. 3
