We're subhuman. But we're still higher in the food chain than the drummers.4 points

I suspect these lists use the same idea like sports radio/columnists do. Be controversial, intentionally annoy to get the clicks/eyeballs/attention that they all don't deserve.3 points

Thanks, Rhyta, I appreciate it. Mom is out of the hospital as of yesterday and in a rehab facility, hopefully she will get strong enough to return to her apartment soon. Lots of physical therapy so far so I'm cautiously optimistic. Hope you are continuing to perk up after covid.3 points

It's under way. Right now I'm re-listening to each album to get my intra-album rank set, and I'm struck by how much I adore the debut. there's a teaser for you.3 points

Well, Derek, it was a long and winding road, with many a strange detour, but you got home safely in the end! An excellent final choice.3 points

Rolling Stones-Beggars Banquet (10/10) i never called myself a massive stones fan. BUT too me this was where the good stones began. that early stuff i see it's important but it's a little TOO dated for me. 1968-1978. that decade period is my fav Stones Mick3 points

Rolling Stone published its original list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists in 2011. It was compiled by a panel of musicians, mostly older classic rockers. Our new expanded list was made by the editors and writers of Rolling Stone. This one goes to 250. Our guy made position 58. Rick Beato is unimpressed. https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/general_music_news/rick_beato_slams_rolling_stones_idiotic_top_250_guitarists_of_all_time_list_this_is_so_embarrassingly_bad.html2 points

Having a pet is both a joy and a heartbreak when it comes time to say goodbye. The little doggie had a wonderful life with two people who loved him very much. I am so sorry for you and your Mom's loss.2 points

Thanks for all the work, D! Your list was a lot of fun. I have a three-day weekend and my golf tournament got cancelled, so maybe I'll get to work on a list of my own...2 points

AI would be smart enough to include Peter Frampton and Terry Kath in a list of the top-250 best guitarists of all time, even if asked to model a list that RS might compile. No, we're seeing human error here.2 points

Xanadu for the win! Great job Derek. I might have quibbled with your choices sometimes, but I also really loved some others. But ultimately it's been a really fun journey. The surprises keep it interesting. I hope someone else is ready to take up the challenge. We have 4 lists done, let's get some more. Then we can put together an overall.2 points

For those of you not too familiar with the Rangers lineup, you may want to keep an eye on rookies Evan Carter who is really cute and a nice rally starter at the plate and on the bases, and Josh Jung who has rounded into the very archetype of third baseman. (see what I did there?) The first time for two wildcards to meet in The Fall Classic should make for an interesting and entertaining series. The owner of this team, the GM, and five of the players are Texans and that would make a title even more meaningful. Who says Texas aint baseball country? Viva Rangers!!!2 points

For me, this was hard to do because Rush, being my favorite band, and group. I wanted to try having their songs reasonable, well-placed, good combinations, and balanced among their studio c.ds, and albums. I know some songs might be lower, and too low particularly from #101 to #110. If I will do another one, I don't know how different it would be, and look like. Thank you, Nova, Mosher, Liquid, again, Goose (Allen), and everybody else . Xanadu, song #2/6, "A Farewell to Kings (1977)" 1. Xanadu, song #2/6 - my entry #1/6, "A Farewell to Kings (1977)" 2. Another criminal omission. Terry Kath -- the player Jimi Hendrix thought was the best in the world at the time, and who fronted one of the most unique and popular bands of the '60s and '70s -- didn't make the list. You'd think Kath and Frampton would be on RS' radar? I do give them credit for including Tosin Abasi at 99.2 points
-
I'm not surprised that RS didn't include certain players that only guitar players have heard of. I'm betting none of those editors and writers have ever heard of Guthrie Govan or Allan Holdsworth. But they did include Joan Jett. Yes, Joan f**king Jett, all the way up at #76, is ranked higher than Wes Montgomery and Larry Carlton. That tells us the real deal -- this is not a list of the most talented guitar players ever. That is not what RS does. Their interest in covering music is more about how culturally significant they think a band or player is. That said, do I still think this list is shit? Absolutely, and Rick Beato very efficiently outlined why. If RS' aim is to list the top 250 culturally significant guitarists of all time, the fact that they didn't include Peter Frampton -- who has both talent and cultural significance -- makes the list null and void all by itself.2 points

Caring thoughts to you and your mom. . It's so hard to say goodbye to a beloved pet, even more so with him being your dad's last pet. I'm sure your mom will appreciate that you have memories of her fur guy along with her.2 points

My mom's little doggie had to be euthanized. He's had seizures over time but they've mostly been well controlled until Tuesday night. He had a couple of smaller ones and then Wednesday night had a major one that he never really recovered from. My mom said she could tell he was struggling to breath and even walk so she made the decision to let him go to "doggie Heaven." It's hard for me knowing how much she loved the little guy and that he was kind of the last living thing that she and my dad cared for together late in my dad's life (he died 2 years ago this month).2 points

Ugh, covid was going around my mom's senior residence again and she caught it. It gives her atrial fibrillation for some reason and did again this time. She tested postive for covid and ended up in the er due to fainting from the afib. It's under control now but she's in the hospital a few days; not the best place when you are 88 years old. Of course the ER took forever, we were there until 3 am just getting her admitted. Long weekend.2 points

Please do! You always have insightful reasoning. And it will be fun to see Xanadu wrongly flipped on your list. :) but seriously I know you'll have a great take.1 point

Same here. I even got banned from his FB page AND his website way back then for being vocal about his mistreatment of James. Fantastic drummer and I think he'll bring back that old school DT vibe. But yeah, he needs to shave down those rough edges.1 point

That call could've gone either way. I thought the linesmen were going to give it to us because it was Bedard. He has four shots on goal in the last three games. Granted, it wasn't against bad teams, but still. And it's not going to get any easier on Friday.1 point

10/24/98, 25 years ago today, they pushed the button and J. L. Hudson's iconic main store in downtown Detroit was imploded. The store with everything. Famous for their window displays, one of the largest replicas of the U.S. flag, and it s Christmas holiday conversion of their 12th floor into "Toyland". I tried to work in stock replacement part time prior to Christmas of 1969 before the flu-which turned out to be Hong Kong Type A-knocked me out for a week. Even seeing vids of the implosion are a drag.1 point

This morning as I was finishing my daily bass practice session I noticed that I have developed quite a lot of speed and control in both the right and left hand fingers. Practicing chromatic scales as a warm-up has made this happen so secretly that this has gone unnoticed even by myself.1 point

Oh, well that's ok then. Rangers were going to be at a pitching disadvantage against either team. We need Scherzer and Gray to come around in the worst way. Unless Garcia can stay pissed for four more games.1 point

The Rangers need to score their runs early, can't count on scoring a lot against the Dbacks bullpen, though they've done pretty well against some good bullpens so far in these playoffs.1 point

I was thinking that AZ would be the easier matchup for my Rangers, but not so sure now. And AZ has a pitcher named Ranger which is just bad Ju Ju. IDK.1 point
