Cool to list so many bands - because I haven't heard of a lot of them.

Voted for Rush's mates i.e. Kim Mitchell et al.

They were prob mates with other bands too.

I know of a few like Triumph, April Wine and Loverboy but haven't heard much by them.

Arcade Fire I personally don't rate too much but like the idea of them changing instruments for diff songs (if I'm not mistaken)

But kudos to the 'The Tea Party' mentioned by some as they're damn good.

I forgot VoiVod and Annihilater too if you want to go down the thrash metal route! Fine bands of that genre.

Voivod are an acquired taste though because they combined odd chords and sounds a-la Sonic Youth with thrash metal and later prog. And they had a cool Sci-fi theme running through many of the early albums where the 'Voivod', or whatever the character was, caused a lot of chaos either warring or going into different dimensions. The drummer who came up with the concepts (sound familiar) and artwork had a fertile imagination!

Max Webster, easily.

Since I live in Canada, I've seen quite a few Canadian bands, but I wasn't lucky enough to see Max Webster (Kim Mitchell a ton of times, but not Max. Bummer.)

No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature is probably my favorite non-Rush Canadian tune.

Two individually written songs combined together. Randy Bachman wrote "No Sugar Tonight" and Burton Cummings wrote "New Mother Nature".

The Kings did the same thing with "This Beat Goes On/Switchin' To Glide".

I love the Kings! It pisses me off when that comes up on shuffle and it doesn’t play both songs together.

Then there's some other Canadian bands.

Honeymoon Suite, The Spoons, Blue Peter, Platinum Blonde, Parachute Club, Grapes of Wrath, Men Without Hats, Glass Tiger, The Northern Pikes, D.O.A., Rough Trade, The Pursuit of Happiness, Idle Eyes, FM, Mahogany Rush, Voivod, Toronto, Headpins, Prism, Harlequin, Sweeney Todd, The Kings, Spirit of the West, Helix, Streetheart, Trooper, Barney Bentall and the Legendary Hearts.

One of my all time favorite songs is “I’m an Adult Now”, by The Pursuit of Happiness. The lyrics are spot on and humorous.

The Tragically Hip.

Also like Honeymoon Suite, BTO, Triumph, Econline Crush, Loverboy, Pursuit of Happiness.

April Wine would be a contender if they hadn't written so many wretched soft rock songs. Their rockier tunes are great, though.

Max Webster and just like Toymaker, I never got to see Max live but have seen KM many times - Kim's actually the last live show I saw just before the Covids shut everything down. Front row too!

Many honourable mentions for me

Saga

Triumph

Goddo

Wireless

BTO

FM

April Wine

Moxy

Coney Hatch

Anvil

Helix

The Diodes

Teenage Head
