  1. If it wasn't called Pantera and all they played was Pantera songs, that would be seen under a totally different light by the fans. Without the Abbott brothers, they shouldn't call it that.
  2. Do I prefer their output with Portnoy? Yes. Do I want Portnoy to come back? No. The band has evolved quite nicely, their status is bigger than ever, and they keep putting out quality material. I do feel nostalgic about the Portnoy years, but even if he came back today, it wouldn't be the same. I hope they can do a celebratory tour or a one-off show at some point, but they're doing just fine without him.
  3. Here's the interview with Eric - and we spoke about Rush too!!!!
  4. Clearly he DIDN'T make it to 80. But I'm curious to find out what your thoughts are on my interview.
  5. In celebration of Dio's 80th birthday, there's a reissue of Holy Diver, with a few demos and live tracks. I Interviewed Vinnie Appice, from Dio's band, and we spoke about it: https://www.sonicperspectives.com/interviews/interview-with-vinnie-appice/ Also, there are lots of cool Sabbath information on the interview. Hope you like it!
  6. New interview I did with Mark Boals, who sang on a few Malmsteen albums:
  7. I did an interview with Jordan Rudess last week, and we published it today: https://www.sonicperspectives.com/interviews/interview-with-jordan-c-rudess/ Please like, comment, share, subscribe...any help is appreciated!
  8. Charlie Griffiths of Haken has a solo album out - it was released yesterday. Pretty good one, with plenty of guests, lots of heavy riffs and a proggy concept. I spoke with him about it here:
  9. Thanks everyone! I had a great day, despite the fact that we still have to isolate due to covid. I'm clear, but my wife now has it...luckily, our daughter is still ok, even though she's in close contact with us. But all in all, this was just a minor inconvenience. We had an amazing lunch together, and I went for a run early in the day. All good! As soon as we're all clear, we'll celebrate with friends.
  10. I also speak with him on Facebook...all is well with him!
  11. And I'm there as "Rodrigo Altaf" by the way...
  12. I have Tombstone on Facebook. Did all of you add me on Facebook, by the way? I'm there!
  13. Sorry to hear that, and hope your daughter-in-law feels better soon. I had a good day, and being able to sleep in the afternoon made things better. I think/hope I'll be ok by Sunday. To be honest, the whole time I traveled this week I only wore a mask where it was absolutely mandatory - on the plane. But we'll see...I'm glad I caught the mild version of it, and in few days my immune system will be in top shape!
  14. I came home from a business trip last night, and woke up felling something tingling on my nostrils. I decided to test myself with a home kit, and voila...I finally got covid. I'm feeling ok though, the symptoms so far are like a flu.
  15. Maybe they're aware that the start of the show is mid-tempo, because Eddie comes up right at the first song.

  17. My interview with Eric is confirmed for this Tuesday afternoon. Let me know if you have questions for him. And yes, I will of course ask him about opening for Rush.
  18. You're gonna love his two albums, man!!!!
  19. Remember you'll be talking to the whole band, not just Alex. And hey, you can actually invite three other friends to join you on the call! I've always been your best friend, haven't I? :)
  20. How can anyone polish a band?
  21. Great hang with James today! I wore a Rush shirt for the interview, which he immediately picked on. We spoke about the Rush beer, a lot of details about his solo album, playing with his son, the Dream Theater tour, making peace with Mike Portnoy, and much more.
