Presto not a big favorite from most but some love it. I feel a lot of rush songs are very positive. My question to you all is am I the only one who loves the song anagram? I think the album is overlooked by people who like signals for example.

One of my favourite albums by any band ever. And it's better than Signals.

It´s the first one I bought upon release, but I hated it when it came out - I was getting into thrash at the time, and bought due to one of my friend´s recommendation, but thought it was too "light". Then I got Caress of Steel and thought it was too old. It would take me another 5 years to get into a headspace that allowed me to enjoy their music - I got A Show of Hands at a used records store, and never looked back!

A point in favor of the case that an entire album can indeed be filler.

It makes for an expensive coaster but sometimes you have to bow to the inevitable and realize that you have to recognize a sink cost when you see/hear it.

But I bought RTB, so I guess that was an instance of "lessons taught but never learned". At least that had Dreamline, the reason Presto had no valleys is that it had no peaks. The only good to come from this album is that a really good line came from this when Geddy came to the realization that sometimes people do indeed like crap.

Well, I met my first challenge of the day with post 9. A whole post about Presto without mentioning Sominex or using Sn to describe it. It's all downhill from here, with the lone saving grace that at least I'll make it through the day without listening to that execrable money grab.

For me it's when things started to go Pete Tong....production issues aside (and the production is indeed shitty) I reckon there is about half an album worth of decent to good songs with two of them being outstanding (Title track and Available Light). The rest....filler.

I know people that the ONLY :rush: album they dig is Presto.......

As far as drumming goes, it may be Neil's best "feel" album. And it has some great lyrics as well.

Apart from the lack of low end, I love the production on it. It's a real treat to listen to on a good pair of headphones.

I've mentioned before that it sounds a lot like the Police's Synchronicity album.

Presto is amazing as is Anagram......very over looked track. Neil's fill on after the last saint's turned to sin. is probably my fav fill he's ever done.

What a coincidence. Yesterday I played the Presto CD on random. The first song to come on was Anagram. I recall thinking to myself that it is such an underrated song. Also from an underrated album. And to agree with an earlier comment, I much prefer listening to Presto than Signals!

I like Anagram for the lyrics and its clever wordplay...but not so much the music.

The lyrics are kinda fun to read. Once. It's a wordplay exercise, nothing more. It's like doing the Jumble in the Sunday paper and trying to make song lyrics out of it. Maybe just leave it as a word puzzle. Neil. That and the fact that the music is dreadfully awful make Anagram one of Rush's top five worst songs. It would be a top-five worst for the Thompson Twins.

Have I mentioned that I hate Anagram?

To paraphrase Rush' s absolute worst song:

Half the world thinks Anagram sucks donkeys while the other half thinks Anagram blows mules
