blueschica
Oh no! This is so sad. He wrote so many of the basic rock songs! They were a foundation for others, even when they didn't realize it at first. (http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/music/posts/la-et-ms-brian-wilson-talks-blurred-lines-chuck-berry-and-surfin-usa-20150312-story.html ) Chuck played at our college one year and put on an awesome show! A friend of mine was student government treasurer and walked downtown to pick up Chuck's fee in cash from a bank that afternoon and give it to him; otherwise he wouldn't play. I guess he was notorious for that. Great show and great memories. RIP, Chuck.

Tony R
A giant of popular music. 90 is no particularly bad age to go. I guess he was too pooped to pop. RIP

I guess the casino is a riverboat and Berry wouldn't set foot on it till he got paid.
Lucas
Back in the 70s, my parents went to see Chuck at a dinner theater ... Both my parents were big fans, and they were sitting at a table on the aisle .. Chuck came walking down the aisle with his guitar to the stage, acknowledging the crowd, and when my Mom said something to him, he stopped and said THANKS .. My Mom reached to shake his hand, and as soon as she took it, she realized Chuck was holding a cigarette - he flinched, she flinched and he dropped the cigarette .... Mom was mortified, but she said he laughed and went right up on stage ..
