Over the years, I've been noticing many people have different opinions on different albums Rush has put out. Being the guitar is too boring, Geddy's voice getting deeper, etc. But I was thinking, last night, that I honestly can't say I dislike any of their albums. So, it got me wondering as to why this is. And it kind of all boils down to my huge fanship of Geddy. Everything about him since the start of Rush's career has been exceedingly phenomenal. Whether it's to his bass skills, talent doing multiple things at once, or his voice. Now, I may be the only one who follows this band primarily for Geddy. Of course I still think Neil and Alex have tremendous amount of talent. But, I seriously can say I may be one of the lucky ones in the world who thoroughly enjoys every Rush album. I need to know if there are any others who do! Even enjoying Counterparts, Vapor Trails, Feedback, or even their self-titled album. Anyone with me?2 points

I'm sure we'll all sleep more soundly tomorrow night, secure in the knowledge that Rush have won the Ultimate Classic Rock Bowl. :eyeroll:2 points

I have no idea. I'm just a Rush loving, bass playing, computer dork with a proclivity for Cylons. It's always nice to get some smiles from TRF though. Thanks, TM. :)2 points

He was the Babe Ruth of football. QB, DB, and punter. He once led the league in TD passes and interception’s. His rookie record for TD passes in a playoff game was just broken this year in a pass-happy league. Too bad he was a Redskin, but please check out this Texans’s accomplishments. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sammy_Baugh1 point

If you have to pick one 80s album by a rock band that's PERFECT for night time listening and night time listening only, I can't imagine anything topping Avalon by Roxy Music. Currently playing the title track.1 point

Showmen. Singers are a dime-a-dozen. That's what I thought, but some of the posts seem to be talking about vocal ability. Dio for example. I saw him in 1984 and 2009. Great singer, and I loved the shows. I wouldn't call him a great show man though.1 point

I had to make the kid a big pot of chili again. He woke up this morning asking for chili. This is incredible. So, this time I wrote down some measurements. BETTER THAN CRACK, CHILI 2 lbs beef 2 Tbl butter 1/2 cup finely diced onion 4 garlic cloves, minced 15 oz tomato sauce (the plain stuff - no spaghetti sauce) 2 Tbl chili powder 1 (heaping) tsp ground cumin 1 (heaping) tsp dried oregano 15 oz can black beans, rinsed and drained Brown the beef over medium heat in a large, heavy pot. Drain the fat and then add 2 Tbl butter to browned beef. Add onions and garlic. Heat through until onions are nice and soft (about 10 minutes). Add tomato sauce and spices. Cover, turn heat to low and let simmer for at least one hour. After one hour, turn heat off and add beans. Cover the pot and let sit for a few minutes (long enough to heat beans through). The chili should be extremely thick and not soupy at all. NOT! AT! ALL! This is thick, stick-to-your-ribs chili. Add favorite toppings. I'm a fan of grated extra sharp cheddar cheese, diced onion, cubed avocado, sour cream and Doritos plain corn tortilla chips.1 point

...great thread! yaay! ... the -40 wind chill is gone! But ... I woke up this am to the side gate slamming in a 60 k wind, looked out the front door only to find 10+ cm of fresh blowing snow ... it was light enough to shovel anyways and a balmy -6 C. Upon further inspection, I noticed abandoned tracks in the front yard where a meter reader or angry neighbor must have ventured in vain ... all that is left is a white hole where the dumbass must have biffed ... now the stupid cosmic gate won't latch anymore, so I just pushed snow against it to prevent it from banging because I too fed up with winter to fix the damn thing! I feel like putting up a sign on the front gate reading "enter at your own risk" .... KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNN!!!1 point

The best i've ever seen live are Bruce Dickinson and Steven Tyler. I haven't seen Areosmith since 1997 so I don't know how good Tyler is these days. But I saw them three times when they toured for Get A Grip and he was just everything you could want from a front man. He has the charisma, the look, the moves and just commanded your attention. When people talk about somebody having the "it" factor when it comes to being a frontman, Steve Tyler is at the top of the list. Bruce Dickinson is pretty much the metal version of that. Even with as big of a show as Maiden puts on, Bruce still grabs your attention and your eyes are always focused on him. He runs around the stage like a mad man, signing everything perfectly and always getting the crowd going. Bruce's stage presence can probably be felt outside the venue by people not even attending the show. That's how strong he is up there. I have to give Dio a mention here as well. I've seen him play small clubs solo, a theater with Sabbath in '92 and an amphitheater with Heaven & Hell in 2007. No matter the size of the crowd he always perfromed like the whole world was watching him. He was such gripping figure when he performed. Most of Dio's lyrics have a magical theme to them and that translated to his live show. Ronnie was truly "magic" on the stage.1 point

Should RUSH play all of the 2112 Suite in its entirety now that they released the 5.1 package. They could even show the Comic version of the story on screen as they play it? I think it would be pretty cool!1 point

I don't think Donald Driver owes us Packer fans anything. He gave 110% for 14 years, he did everything the Right way in his career. He gave us his all, he didn't betray anyone, and he was a wonderful influence on the younger players. If he still wants to play football, then more power to him. If he were to play for another team (except for Minnesota.... ), I would cheer him on without hesitation. These players are still grown men and free men, and pro football is still a job as well as a sport. If they want to keep playing after their original team has moved on, then that is their right. As long as they're not assholes when they leave, then we fans have no right to complain. :finbar: :finbar:1 point

You know, I was really involved some time ago in my town's local Punk scene, and I really got fed up with their attitude. They still believe the Ramones or The Clash are the best bands ever as though no other bands had came during the last 35 years. I almost got in a fight with a guy who was adamant Syd Vicious was a great bass player, obviously, I told him he wasn't , so he answered me something like "it dosen't matter, it's the image and the look that matter", anyway we argued for about half an hour and I ended up calling him "a f***ing groupie". But I still like a lot of punk music, I just find the ideology completely retarded.1 point

I like to smile at everyone I pass by, to be polite and to maybe make someone's day or restore their faith in the youth of today. I know it's not a really impressive act of kindness, but just getting one smile back seems to brighten my day. I like making other people smile, I've gotten a few in return that were so kind and sincere that they completely made my day on several occasions. :)1 point
