Being honest here... I'm really not liking Capaldi, still, but I LOVED this episode. I have so many theories. I thought of you YL. I know you're a huge DW fan and was looking forward to coming here and reading your input. :)

Our weather has finally started to cool down. It has been really hot for us here in Seattle. We had a very unusual summer. I am SO glad it is cooling down. This is my favorite time of year to eat. Of course, this also means I get my money's worth at the gym.

Look in the Asian section. I'm glad you told me that because I never look in that section. I would have only looked where they have the regular bread crumbs. You should look at everything in every aisle Lorraine! You are missing out on a lot of interesting things. :)

I also rarely turn on my oven until it cools off a bit. We got some nice cool evenings here lately so I decided to make a meatloaf. Had the meatloaf, garlic and herb infused mashed potatoes, fresh green beans and biscuits with beef gravy last night. It was great. Had a cold meatloaf sandwich for lunch today! Great once again! I've been hankering after a good meat loaf dinner too. They don't sell the meatloaf combo packs out here anymore. I asked the lady that works in the meat department why, and she said the Board of Health won't let them. But the combination of those three chopped meats - veal, pork and beef - make for quite the tasty meat loaf. MHO, that meatloaf combo is way overrated. I stumbled across this meatloaf recipe years ago and it is the best, by far. It's super easy, foolproof and is really good. Plus, it only calls for 1.5 lbs ground beef which is easier on the wallet than the meat trio combo. I want my meatloaf on the simple side. I don't want pieces of chunky vegetables in there. I don't want to eat messed up, fussy meatloaf. I got this recipe from allrecipes.com. I just checked and it has 3,288 reviews and received 4.5 out of 5 stars so I am not the only person who freaking loves this loaf. EASY MEATLOAF (The broad who came up with this recipe is not kidding. It is SO easy!) 1 1/2 lbs ground beef (I like to use the 20% fat package of beef. It will keep the meatloaf moist with that extra fat and fat makes things taste good.) 1 egg 1 cup milk (whole milk at least but I usually use a combo of whole milk and heavy cream) 1 cup dried bread (or cracker) crumbs salt/pepper, to taste 2 Tbl brown sugar 2 Tbl prepared mustard 1/3 cup ketchup (I always add sautéed grated onion, chopped garlic and some dried herbs - usually basil/oregano - to the meat mixture before baking.) Preheat oven to 350°. Combine beef, egg, milk, bread/cracker crumbs and salt/pepper in large bowl. Turn onto foil-lined baking sheet and form into a loaf. Combine brown sugar, mustard and ketchup in bowl and pour over meatloaf. Bake in 350° oven for 1 hour. I'm making this tomorrow night. Can't decide on a vegetable though. Am having mashed potatoes with it. Sounds good, But I would use Panko bread crumbs. For inside a meatloaf, or inside anything that calls for bread crumbs/crackers to be used, it truly doesn't matter. Panko is great for an outer coating though on something being fried or baked because it has that great crunch. But you aren't looking for a, "crunch" when it's on the inside of something so it's fine to use anything. You're just looking for a carb to help bind the items together in something that needs to keep a shape, like meatloaf or crab cakes.

Am having mashed potatoes with it. HA! So am I! Meatloaf gets a bad rap but it's so good. I always, always serve mashed potatoes on the side too. Seems a sin not too. For another vegetable, anything works, peas, steamed broccoli, roasted carrots... it really doesn't matter. Or just skip a second side vegetable and just serve some hot buttered rolls.

The Dutch oven will serve you well all fall and winter long! I haven't heard yet what kind of winter us Washingtonians are in for. Of course, the east side weather is very different from the west side but still... I've already stocked up on that good old seasoned firewood and have it ready to go.

I couldn't imagine it either but at least there was a happy compromise. :) We have two cats. Then had our babies. Baby #1 had a really bad allergy. So sorry for that. I handed him a box of tissue for that runny nose and those watery eyes. Fur babies were going nowhere.

Wasn't something we could avoid. Can't go into it but yeah. Thankfully, very VERY close friends of ours, on a huge property, took them on and they are in cat heaven! So it was a winner for us all! I am so glad you found a friend to take in your kitty cats. Pets are just awesome. I've always had them and always will. I couldn't even imagine not having pets. A house becomes a home only when there's a pet inside.

I thought that my dad and I were the only ones that watched the reduced for quick sale meat cuts! :) We had a Food Lion here in town for a few years and they always seemed to cut more beef roasts and pork chops than would sell and then you could get them at good prices; I would freeze stuff from there. Sadly it was an underperforming store and they closed it after a few years. Our usual store must keep track pretty carefully, they don't have nearly the amount of reduced stuff. It is cold and rainy here today, pot roast and apple pie (apples are starting to come!) sounds good for a night pretty soon. Years ago, I never really kept an eye out for sales. The prices were pretty decent. Not these days. I am always looking for bargains. ... some piglet disease HAHAHA!

Can't be worse than me. I had to look it up to find out it was a show and not a movie. It seemed like it was, "the show" to watch a while back. See, I didn't even know that. Just last spring I started watching Lost. I'm midway through season 5 now. I've never seen Smallville or Breaking Bad (shows many have told me I'd like). I haven't seen Lost, Smallville or Breaking Bad but that is definitely one I want to watch. Along with: Sherlock, Fear the Walking Dead, Intruders, Broadchruch and Game of Thrones. Haven't seen any of the shows you mentioned either. I've never even heard of Intruders or Broadchurch. I am SO glad I'm not the only one. :) Broadchurch is the show David Tennant did right after his departure from Doctor Who and I just really like him so I've been meaning to watch it. Another favorite actor of mine is John Simm and he's in the show, "Intruders." He was also the Master in Doctor Who. Got a theme here! Who? What? ;) Actually, I've never seen Doctor Who either. http://www.reactiongifs.com/r/whowut.gif http://www.reactiongifs.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/I_has_a_sad.gif Wow. Not one single episode? I can honestly say that Doctor Who is a must see. There's a doctor for everybody.

I actually have this photo of Meatloaf above the recipe in my personal recipe collection:
