Texas King
Which iconic tune between these two from 1970?
Entre_Perpetuo
Close, but Immigrant Song is a tad more groundbreaking, seeing as Sabbath had already invented metal on their last album. Now Zep invents Viking metal! :haz:
Rick N. Backer
Both good songs. But only one of them is by Sabbath.
laughedatbytime
Sabs, though these may be the two best songs from that year (without looking it up, and realizing this was a great year for music).

driventotheedge
Normally I would vote Sabbath, however............in an occurrence I don't think ever happened before or since, Iommi lifted the opening riff of Paranoid from of all people, Page. It's the same riff that Page used in the middle of Dazed and Confused which is on the first Zep album released a year or so earlier. I recently read somewhere an interview with Iommi where he said he did nick the riff from Page. Of course knowing Page it's possible he lifted it from someone else but to my knowledge that's not the case. Anyway, because of that and because Immigrant Song is one of my all-time favorite Zep tunes, I voted for it though very reluctantly.
vaportrailer
Zep gets my vote just for jettisoning the obligatory guitar solo (and drum fills). All meat, no minor pentatonic wiggling. That sounds dirty somehow.
HemiBeers
I'll take Plants vocals anyday in his prime over Ozzy's drug hazed stupor. Zep easily.
J2112YYZ
Immigrant Song. Normally I would pick Sabbath but I honestly never thought Paranoid was that good of a song. It's ok but just about every other song on the album is better.

goose
Both good songs. But only one of them is by Sabbath. The Sabbath song has much better production to my ears, so that's what I went with. Immigrant Song's intro is iconic, though.

I also had a white 45 by a punk group called the dickies who covered paranoid I greatly prefer zep over sabbath but not in this case

custom55
SABBATH I remember the summer of 1971, Jersey shore boardwalk, riding the Himalya while Paranoid was blasting on the speakers. Priceless Edited May 11, 2019 by custom55
tangy
My favorite sabbath tune. So you have never heard anything else from Sabbath then? Lol Never said it was their best only my fave. I imagine it is one of their more popular songs too. Definitely hear it more on the radio than any other tune here. I am not a huge fan. I like ozzy era and ozzys early solo work. Other faves are sweetleaf, war pigs and fairies wear boots
