MickI wonder what Segue will say... that i suck.......but aside from 2 albums. his career is way over praised, IMO. Mick I can live with this...pre-Off The Wall I don't care, and post-Dangerous I like a few singles (Earth Song is my favourite MJ song). It is why you never really see me rank him high HIGH up. I love the four albums, the odd single, and most of his videos. Definitely not up their with Springsteen, Toto or the Beatles for me if we are comparing COMPLETE discographies. I love that quote, and have thought for a long while that there's only so much room for subjectiviity in music, for ex we can differentiate music from noise. She isn't my cup of tea entirely, but she is a fantastic songwriter and her voice has a certain grace unique to modern pop. She has a certain x factor, I hear it in her music and I see it in her interviews. This is the argument I have in favour of One Direction: look at the world of commercially successful pop. Name me post 2009 rivals with better songs?! Adele has only one real rival in her style: Paloma Faith. Underrated and full on amazing. Many great female singers, but most have cult status. Otherwise, the Rihanna's, Lady Gaga's and Ellie Golding's of this world are not quite in par with Adele. Sia comes close, but her music often feels a little shrill for my palate. As for One Direction, they have no competition in today's market quality wise. And this isn't a testament to the bands greatness, it is just really sad that the best chart fodder is 1D.
