Mr. Henry Gale Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 (edited) Well, as someone that was not a fan of S&A, I think this song kicks ass. At least to me, it sounds like older rush meets VT era Rush vocals. But then again, I guess it's all just perception/opinion. All I know is, this is probably one of the better things I've heard out of them in a while. I'm impressed! Edited April 18, 2012 by Mr. Henry Gale
danielmclark Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 I have to leave the house for an hour. This thread will probably be 30 pages long by the time I get back

EmotionDetector Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 I just read through 9 pages...but have yet to listen to the tune!! Love the comments though...if everyone else here is drooling over it, you can only imagine what this fan of Neurotica and Virtuality will think... Time to listen...
rushgoober Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 (edited) QUOTE (Strangiato @ Apr 18 2012, 09:50 AM) Anyone want to fill in the missing lyrics for me? Here is what I have so far. All the journeys Of this great adventure This didn't always feel that way -missing- Because I make them The best I could and that's enough to say Some days were dark I wish that I could live it all again Some nights were bright I wish that I could live it all again All the highlights Of that headlong flight Holding on with all our might -missing- I wish that I could live it all again I( or I'll) stroke the fire of the big steel wheels Steer the airship right across the stars I learned to fight, I learned to love, and learned to feel Oh i wish that i could live it all again All the treausures The gold and glory It didn't always feel that way I don't regret it I'll never forget it I wouldn't take a moment for today? Some days were dark I wish that I could live it all again Some nights were bright I wish that I could live it all again I(or I'll) stroke the fire of the big steel wheels Steer the airship right across the stars I learned to fight, I learned to love, and learned to feel Oh i wish that i could live it all again *garbled voice* the days were dark *garbled voice* and the nights were bright *garbled voice* -missing- *garbled voice* -missing- All the highlights Of that headlong flight Holding on with all our might Some days were dark I wish that I could live it all again Some nights were bright I wish that I could live it all again I(or I'll) stroke the fire of the big steel wheels Steer the airship right across the stars I learned to fight, I learned to love, and learned to feel Oh i wish that i could live it all again I(or I'll) stroke the fire of the big steel wheels Steer the airship right across the stars I learned to fight, I learned to love, and learned to feel Oh I wish that I could Oh I wish that I could live it all again While the lyrics are incomplete, thanks for posting this - it helped with my enjoyment of the song. Thank God some of the fake lyrics people posted were incorrect! This at least sounds/feels like a Rush song, and it especially sounds like it could be part of a story. I filled in some of your blanks best I could: All the journeys Of this great adventure This didn't always feel that way I wouldn't (shoot?) them Because I make them The best I could and that's enough to say Some days were dark I wish that I could live it all again Some nights were bright I wish that I could live it all again All the highlights Of that headlong flight Holding on with all our might To where I felt that (place?) I wish that I could live it all again I stoke the fire of the big steel wheels Steer the airship right across the stars I learned to fight, I learned to love, and learned to feel Oh I wish that I could live it all again All the treasures The gold and glory It didn't always feel that way I don't regret it I'll never forget it I wouldn't trade tomorrow for today Some days were dark I wish that I could live it all again Some nights were bright I wish that I could live it all again I stoke the fire of the big steel wheels Steer the airship right across the stars I learned to fight, I learned to love, and learned to feel Oh I wish that I could live it all again The days were dark And the nights were bright Hey, man I would never trade tomorrow for today All the highlights Of that headlong flight Holding on with all our might Some days were dark I wish that I could live it all again Some nights were bright I wish that I could live it all again I stoke the fire of the big steel wheels Steer the airship right across the stars I learned to fight, I learned to love, and learned to feel Oh I wish that I could live it all again I stoke the fire of the big steel wheels Steer the airship right across the stars I learned to fight, I learned to love, and learned to steal Oh I wish that I could Oh I wish that I could live it all again That seems to be MOST of the lyrics and MOSTLY CORRECT - if anyone can add any further tweaks, please do - thanks to Strangiato for doing most of the work! worthog Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 There is some great stuff in that song. I truly love it already. However, I do feel it is noticeable that the music was written before hand and then complex and lengthy lyrics were added. But overall, gotta love the time sig changes, had some old Rush feel in there, AND BOY DOES GEDDY WAIL in a few spots, I will be interested to see if he can pull that off every night
rushgoober Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Of course this will probably come down soon, but the song has already made it's way to youtube - is it just me or is the sound noticeably better? Sounds like it's been cleaned up a bit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pClcoXV5R58

mstmompj Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 I'm guessing it's "steered" and "stoked" (past tense) as that's what fits the tense of the other verses. It sounds a little more like that to me as well, but my hearing ain't what it used to be so I trust my sense of grammar more.
Gompers Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 I would like to see how the first full release of Far Cry matches up to this thread. At that time it was all about the Hemispheres chord if I remember.

Del_Duio Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 (edited) QUOTE (snowdog2112 @ Apr 18 2012, 11:10 AM) QUOTE (GangsterOnBoats @ Apr 18 2012, 10:04 AM) Has anyone been able to decifer the middle section's weird narration voice? No, it's really compressed sounding, the teaser sounds better to me audio-wise. And I'll be the first to say it, just as I expected there's nothing "Bytor-ish" about it unless you want to count the drum fill. Not that that matters, just that people who were expecting Bytor part 2 were setting themselves up for a letdown. Ged sounds fine to me, I don't hear any straining as was commented on but of course now I've got to hear it another 20 times. There's not much of a hook to it, really. I almost ALMOST think it says something about the ''night so bright' which is a reference to Double Agent's narration. I could be insane though. Edited April 18, 2012 by Del_Duio

That One Guy Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Yay new song C: Neil's drumming has gotten more aggressive. Hopefully the other tracks have similar levels of Rush-level intensity. Only nearly two months to go.
