Sounds Epic, even though im struggling to understand what Geddy is saying at some points. Geddy is hitting some pretty high notes, which is great and if this is a taster of what is to come we are in for a treat yes.gif 1022.gif

Well, as someone that was not a fan of S&A, I think this song kicks ass. At least to me, it sounds like older rush meets VT era Rush vocals.

But then again, I guess it's all just perception/opinion. All I know is, this is probably one of the better things I've heard out of them in a while. I'm impressed!

Wow, people are coming out of the woodwork for this... bekloppt.gif

College life has consumed me! Still a big Rush fan. biggrin.gif

Anyone want to fill in the missing lyrics for me? Here is what I have so far.

All the journeys
Of this great adventure
This didn't always feel that way

-missing-
Because I make them
The best I could and that's enough to say

Some days were dark
I wish that I could live it all again
Some nights were bright
I wish that I could live it all again

All the highlights
Of that headlong flight
Holding on with all our might

-missing-
I wish that I could live it all again

I( or I'll) stroke the fire of the big steel wheels
Steer the airship right across the stars
I learned to fight, I learned to love, and learned to feel
Oh i wish that i could live it all again

All the treausures
The gold and glory
It didn't always feel that way

I don't regret it
I'll never forget it
I wouldn't take a moment for today?

Some days were dark
I wish that I could live it all again
Some nights were bright
I wish that I could live it all again

I(or I'll) stroke the fire of the big steel wheels
Steer the airship right across the stars
I learned to fight, I learned to love, and learned to feel
Oh i wish that i could live it all again

*garbled voice* the days were dark
*garbled voice* and the nights were bright
*garbled voice* -missing-
*garbled voice* -missing-

All the highlights
Of that headlong flight
Holding on with all our might

Some days were dark
I wish that I could live it all again
Some nights were bright
I wish that I could live it all again

I(or I'll) stroke the fire of the big steel wheels
Steer the airship right across the stars
I learned to fight, I learned to love, and learned to feel
Oh i wish that i could live it all again

I(or I'll) stroke the fire of the big steel wheels
Steer the airship right across the stars
I learned to fight, I learned to love, and learned to feel
Oh I wish that I could
Oh I wish that I could live it all again

While the lyrics are incomplete, thanks for posting this - it helped with my enjoyment of the song. Thank God some of the fake lyrics people posted were incorrect! This at least sounds/feels like a Rush song, and it especially sounds like it could be part of a story.

I filled in some of your blanks best I could:

All the journeys

Of this great adventure

This didn't always feel that way

I wouldn't (shoot?) them

Because I make them

The best I could and that's enough to say

Some days were dark

I wish that I could live it all again

Some nights were bright

I wish that I could live it all again

All the highlights

Of that headlong flight

Holding on with all our might

To where I felt that (place?)

I wish that I could live it all again

I stoke the fire of the big steel wheels

Steer the airship right across the stars

I learned to fight, I learned to love, and learned to feel

Oh I wish that I could live it all again

All the treasures

The gold and glory

It didn't always feel that way

I don't regret it

I'll never forget it

I wouldn't trade tomorrow for today

Some days were dark

I wish that I could live it all again

Some nights were bright

I wish that I could live it all again

I stoke the fire of the big steel wheels

Steer the airship right across the stars

I learned to fight, I learned to love, and learned to feel

Oh I wish that I could live it all again

The days were dark

And the nights were bright

Hey, man

I would never trade tomorrow for today

All the highlights

Of that headlong flight

Holding on with all our might

Some days were dark

I wish that I could live it all again

Some nights were bright

I wish that I could live it all again

I stoke the fire of the big steel wheels

Steer the airship right across the stars

I learned to fight, I learned to love, and learned to feel

Oh I wish that I could live it all again

I stoke the fire of the big steel wheels

Steer the airship right across the stars

I learned to fight, I learned to love, and learned to steal

Oh I wish that I could

Oh I wish that I could live it all again

That seems to be MOST of the lyrics and MOSTLY CORRECT - if anyone can add any further tweaks, please do - thanks to Strangiato for doing most of the work! trink39.gif

in the spoken part there is a Yeah at the end....

The days were dark

And the nights were bright

Hey man

I would never trade

Tomorrow for today

Yeah

I do like the middle jam section in this one. It doesn't feel super awkward like the Caravan one, but its really just the vocals turning me off. They sound slapped together. He used to be great at writing vocal melodies but they just sound strange and not anything memorable or catchy in there by him.

Parts of this song make me want to scream like a little girl at a Beatles concert. What a reaction I'm having to this. I LOVE IT! 1022.gif trink38.gif 2.gif

Still haven't heard it... sad.gif

Awwww, Man!! I bleed for you. I freakin' love this tune!

Holy crap!!! 1022.gif

What an awesome tune!!! Rock solid playing from all 3 guys, and Geddy is really hitting some big long notes!! It is a little tough to understand what he is saying, but I'm honestly thinking its due to the compression of the file on Rolling Stone's website. I think it will be fine on the album. smile.gif

I can't wait for the new album!! Its NEW 2.gif time!!!

I am pretty sure one correction for the lyrics will be:

Some days were dark

I wish that I could leave it all again

Some nights were bright

I wish that I could live it all again

Great job on the lyrics boys!

At 5:37-5:47, before the vocals come back in -- sort of a subtle reference to "Main Monkey Business?"

Could be be. I hear what you mean, but they may also be unintentionally borrowing from themselves.

Of course this will probably come down soon, but the song has already made it's way to youtube - is it just me or is the sound noticeably better? Sounds like it's been cleaned up a bit:

Hey Goobs, I haven't posted in awhile but I have come by to check things out once in a while. I was listening to the song for like the dozenth time and in the middle of it I closed it to click on your youtube link and when I clicked on it and saw what came up I literally said "What an asshole!" with sort of a grin on my face. Goobs, you'll never change. laugh.gif

Anyhow, the song ROCKS. They have not played like this in a long time and showed off their chops through an entire song. It is going to take a lot of listens to to really digest the whole song. There are a lot of cool parts in the song and each time I listen I hear something new. I just don't know if it will get a lot of radio airplay because it might not be catchy enough but maybe it will just simply because of the incredible musicianship. I love the song but I need to listen many more times before I can really evaluate it.

And I'll be the first to say it, just as I expected there's nothing "Bytor-ish" about it unless you want to count the drum fill.

actually Alex's wah wah solo does sound a little Bytor-ish. but that's where the similarities end.

i really like the wah wah and how he used it.

The plodding bit/section reminds me of the like-section from Armor & Sword.

That modulated/distorted vocal kind of is reminiscent of Porcupine Tree's like-section in the song Shallow.
