  1. You're just depleting all of your serotonin and have none left, that's all.
  2. QUOTE (drbirdsong @ Sep 20 2012, 10:30 AM) It looks a bit different under all the stage lights. http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z437/drbirdsong/GeddyLeeBass_zps0a928c9a.jpg That bass is sexy AF
  3. I thought Wish Them Well was pretty freakin sweet live. Neil was improvising the drum part and making it really dynamic in DC. The footswitch to engage the high-pitched vocal part was funny, but good and I get why Geddy can't sing that time after time. 7CoG is nice, but I would have rather seen Carnies. It is one of my favorite songs from the album

Is there a shirtless picture of Geddy that I do not own!? Where is the link to such a picture if it does exist? It's around here somewhere. Ask one of the ladies. Oh well if it's the one that's already on here then it's the one that all of the ladies are going gaga over in New World Women. Concave my a**. He's in great shape. Ok, let's see your ass and I'll make that judgement call http://static.fjcdn.com/pictures/Oh_623a70_2287827.jpg
  5. I could've doen without Dreamline and Red Sector A but whatever, it was still kickass
  6. Anagram (for Mongo) Red Tide Face Up You Bet Your Life Freeze (Part IV of 'Fear') Open Secrets Spindrift Where's My Thing? (Part IV, "Gangster of Boats" Trilogy) Kid Gloves Mystic Rhythms
  7. Yeah I was jumping for joy when I first heard it. It is still as engrossing to me now as it was when I first heard it. It is the indisputable standout on the album. It has a very modern prog aspect to it (Dream Theater done right) and it makes me wish they had stuck with prog's evolution in the 80s and 90s (much in the same way King Crimson did).
  8. That's EXACTLY why I come here. Very few of my fb friends like Rush

Rush --> The I wish we were Led Zeppelin album. 2. Fly By Night --> The what are these nutty songs are new drummer wrote oh well let's make the best of it album. 3. Caress of Steel --> The let's do drugs and make a weirdo album that alienates the record company AND the fans album. 4. 2112 --> The overthrowing a totalitarian regime sci-fi concept album plus a few other songs we came up with to fill out the 40 minutes about smoking pot and crying and stuff album. 5. A Farewell to Kings --> The we missed the boat on prog rock, but damnit, we're going to pretend it's 1972 anyway album. 6. Hemispheres --> The nobody can make music more complex than us album. 7. Permanent Waves --> The I'm exhausted after all those 20 minute epics about the nature of the universe except for that last song album. 8. Moving Pictures --> The we're going to buckle down and write catchy commercial songs if it kills us album. 9. Signals --> The let's take the whole synthesizer new wavy thing and go nuts album. 10. Grace Under Pressure --> The world is complicated and sucky and we're ready to whine about it album. 11. Power Windows --> The please take us seriously we write about really important stuff album. 12. Hold Your Fire --> The f*ck you to all the fans who abandoned us after 1981, we're going to turn the synthesizers up to 11 album. 13. Presto --> The we took the synths as far as we could, let's try to make songs as catchy as possible and hope for the success of Moving Pictures even though the songs are nowhere near as good album. 14. Roll the Bones --> The let's try that again and make even worse songs album. 15. Counterparts --> The let's cash in on the whole grunge thing album. 16. Test for Echo --> The let's go back to our roots and come up with lyrics as bad as on our first album album. 17. Vapor Trails --> The floundering in confusion while we overcome tragedy album. 18. Snakes and Arrows --> The we're in our 50's now and can still kick your ass comeback album. 19. Clockwork Angels --> The we're getting really old and we're going to make a big statement by doing a huge prog era concept album but without the prog because that was a long time ago album. You are commenting more on the musical direction of the band on some of your evaluations. I am trying to get to the heart of the lyrical/conceptual/thematic elements binding the songs on their respective albums together. Your comment about 2112 is very funny though. "fill out the 40 minutes about smoking pot and crying and stuff " Dude, I hope you didn't take ANY of that seriously. Whether or not you were serious, your post contains come truth. I'm striving toward an honest dialogue here.

  11. CA is being called 's first concept album, but I heard in some interviews in the 80's the band say that most of their albums are built around thematic concepts. I am just wondering if someone can held elucidate all of the themes/concepts for me. I'll give it my best shot. 1. Rush --> young man's blues 2. Fly By Night --> basic fantasy (By-tor) 3. Caress of Steel --> High Fantasy () 4. 2112 --> kick-ass Science Fiction 5. A Farewell to Kings --> Fantasy Mash-up (historical, adventure, space) 6. Hemispheres --> Allegorical Fantasy 7. Permanent Waves --> Enduring Human Expressions (freewill, preserving relationships, environmentalism) 8. Moving Pictures --> Oxymorons (modern Tom Sawyer, LIVING in the limelight, counterproductive mob mentality) 9. Signals --> Clash of the Old and the New 10. Grace Under Pressure --> simply, people acting with Grace Under Pressure 11. Power Windows --> the views by which we see/experience power 12. Hold Your Fire --> NOT REALLY SURE 13. Presto --> Life 14. Roll the Bones --> the chances we take by being alive 15. Counterparts --> Relationships 16. Test for Echo --> Endurance 17. Vapor Trails --> Humility, Redemtion 18. Snakes and Arrows --> Harsh Realities 19. Clockwork Angels --> High Fantasy Let me know your opinions and correct me if I am wrong on any of these!
  12. QUOTE (Dscrapre @ Sep 4 2012, 04:53 PM) Has Geddy ever actually played a Gibson? I've only ever heard of him using Fender, Rickenbacker, Wal, and another one who's name escapes me. Good to see Ged getting some recognition! Steinberger
  13. The Wall = the best double album of all time. name a better one... Dark Side of the Moon = one of the most flawless albums of all time. name another one as flawless... with that cleared up, no, CA is not suited to that kind of cinematic show. each song stands on its own to well.
  14. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Sep 4 2012, 12:10 PM) Ok, been thinking about this lately - let's break down the songs on S&A into two simple categories - which songs do you think are good enough to be considered Rush classics, and what songs are not classics? I understand that it's a bit presumptuous to call a song that came out 3 months ago a "classic," but let's go for it anyway based on how we feel right now. If you want, you can think of it as "songs that are destined to be considered classics in the future." Keep in mind, a song could still be a very good song, or even a GREAT song, but be short of "classic" status. And for fun, do them in order of preference within each category: CLASSIC CA SONGS Clockwork Angels The Garden Headlong Flight Caravan BU2B The Anarchist The Wreckers (coming from someone who was hoping for 1 or 2 great songs on this album, and thinking 3 was too much to hope for, I have SEVEN songs I don't just think are great, but are Rush classics - and the first three from my list below are also great songs. Woohoo!) NOT CLASSIC CA SONGS Wish Them Well Carnies Seven Cities of Gold Halo Effect BU2B2 (Halo Effect is just ok, BU2B2 is pretty worthless) Nailed it
  15. QUOTE (tommyali @ Aug 31 2012, 12:15 AM) i feel like i'm in a bad dream. i do not like CA at all!!!!!? it is just not good to me. in any way.
