  1. Oh my Geez!!! (not a song title, just my feelings)
  2. I thought I had remembered seeing him wear his ring in some concert DVD's as well. Thanks for checking that out. Now I am curious! Maybe his fingers are swollen and it won't fit any more. Or maybe he has lost some weight? BETTY boop?? Yep, BETTY Boop

  4. In all honesty, Geddy probably looks better as a 63 year old than when he was 23. I agree. I always said Geddy "grew" into his looks.

I'm a little late on this topic but we did listen to both albums yesterday. I have always been a VT fan but the remix version gives it new life and that makes me happy!!! The songs are excellent and the musicianship....well, it's Rush so. I'm just glad we can hear it ALL now on the remix.
  6. That line use to make me think-- Deep stuff there One of my bros used it for his high school yearbook quote when he graduated in '85. It sure beats one of my classmates who had "Yabba Dabba Doo" as his senior quote. Oh wow, LOL !!!! Yea, nothing against Mr. Flintstone, but come on! Ha!!!!
  7. Definitely one of my favorite songs. I always thought it was the Digital Man as a kid. I love the last verse. "When I leave I don't know what I am hoping to find. When I leave I don't know what I'm leaving behind." That's deep ;)
  8. We haven't seen the documentary yet, but I am sure I will be heartbroken. I have been very fortunate to have seen them 4 times in the last 6 years, but I don't want it to end. If Geddy and Al do something, just the 2 of them....how will you guys feel about that?
  9. Anyone who gushes over VT automatically becomes my wife's new friend, it is one of her faves as well. :haz: I like it a lot as well, for all the reasons you mentioned (except growing up on it, I am much older than that!) But she adores that album. LOL!! I just commented on that post!!!
  10. I love it as well. I loved it even before I knew the history behind it. I agree with all that you have said about it. Great, Great Album!!! :finbar:
  11. My wife cannot listen to this song, and this is her favorite Rush album. It holds strong memories for us both, but I have managed to overcome them in order to appreciate this track. For her, it is a song she cannot bear to hear. Around the time that the album came out, my step dad passed away. And so for some time we associated this song with his passing and neither of us would listen to it. As the next couple of years went by, I was able to listen again, although I only did so sporadically, and never around her, as she would start crying every time it came on. Of course, we heard the song when we saw the band on the CA Tour, and she was able to keep it together at the shows. Then in December her father had a heart attack and died. Four months later, her mother passed away from the effects of dementia. Now more than ever this song - even if she will not listen to it - stands as a permanent reminder of their passing. She said that she doesn't know if she will ever be able to listen to it. And she considers it one of their best songs. When we listen to CA, we stop after Headlong Flight. She won't go beyond that, although from time to time she will spin Wish Them Well. Now, even though the song doesn't affect me in the same way it does her, I rarely listen anymore, because now I associate it with her grief. In time, she will be able to listen to it. If she never does, she will never heal correctly. The same thing happened to me in 1971/72. It took me eight years to be able to listen to Seventh Sojourn and Harvest - both albums reminded me of the sudden death of both my father and grandfather within three months of each other. I thought I had healed, but it wasn't a total healing. The wound had to be ripped opened again for it to be healed properly. I feel for your wife very deeply. Emotional pain and wounds are the worst. A huge hug for her. As for The Garden, there's something about that song that not even I can get through it without choking up, especially towards the end, when Geddy sings out for the last time "a garden to nurture and protect." The way he sings that line for the last time chokes me up bad, and then the music that follows does me in. Thank you Lorraine! Hugs to you too. I feel like eventually I will be able to listen to this song. It is one of the best songs ever written IMO. Rush has a lot of songs that touch me very deeply but none as much as this one. Kena, my heart does go out to you. I know what you are going through, and I'm not just saying that. I really do. The song will still be there when you think you are ready. :) That's the awesome thing about music....It's always there! Something we can all relate too. :kisshug:
  12. I haven't been on in a while but my husband Wil1972 post quite often. He told me about this thread and so I felt the need to post on the GUSH thread. So here goes, and please forgive me if it seems quite long. I have always known/heard Rush growing up. I only had access to their hits because we didn't have a lot of money and so I just had standard TV stations, no internet and standard radio stations (we ALL know that Rush was not in the mainstream media, sooooo). My husband and I got together in 2010. We had not been together long when he started slowly introducing Rush to me. Once we had gotten through all of their albums, videos and history I immediately felt robbed!! Where had these guys been all my life? I needed them so much growing up. The Pass, Subdivisions, Stick it Out, One Little Victory....I could go on and on and on!! I will also admit (I know all of you old school Rush fans will disagree with me) but VT is my favorite. When I heard it for the first time, it stuck with me. I didn't know the history behind it or anything. I got past the production because I am a lyric lady. Anywho, I say all this to just say that Rush means a lot to so many people on different levels. I listen to them on a daily basis because they make my heart and soul happy. So I am terribly sad now that they are retiring from live performances. Again, I feel robbed but at the same time, blessed to have found them when I did.
