  1. I don't know when/where this photo was originally taken, though I know that I first downloaded it from the internet on May 24 of this year, so it long pre-dates the end of this tour. I was surprised when Mosbach tweeted it as if it had come from the final show, though it is an image artistically suggestive of the end of things. I hate to wade into the rampant psychoanalysis that seems to be going on in this thread, so I will simply say that as a person with Asperger's, who has children with Asperger's, some folks just don't care to be in close physical contact with other people, even those they love with all their hearts. So I wouldn't read anything dark into Neil's walking ahead in this photo. Heck, he may just be too hot and sweaty from 3 hours of drumming to want to impose his stink on his buds.
  2. Ron (@rkalnitz) 'scoped "The Anarchist," but shut off after that.
  3. You wanna play with fire? :fury: Dallas Houston
  4. Periscope down. Try http://meerkatapp.co/happydiabetic/1afcb259-aabf-453f-a8a3-cec3d66067b2?utm_source=twitter.
  5. Xanadu! http://meerkatapp.co/happydiabetic/1afcb259-aabf-453f-a8a3-cec3d66067b2?utm_source=twitter
  6. First; the opening video animation was playing when the periscope stream started.
  7. Oddly enough, it's always given me a bit of a Morrissey vibe, in the sense that it juxtaposes a cheery little tune with lyrics describing a bleak emotional state.
  8. Dude, are you even paying attention? They are moving backward through time. The first hour of the show was 1982-2012. That means that the next hour plus will be 1974-1982. Sheesh! Logic dictates that you will get more 70s stuff than you got 90s stuff--they just haven't played it yet.
  9. I suspect you're right. I sure hope I get DEW because that sounded absolutely awesome on the live stream.
  10. Yeah, but Alex doesn't have to sing it. (Which is a good thing ultimately.)
  11. As you probably know, some of the best talks happen in the car—no eye contact. Let him pick the music. *sigh* Take him out to lunch and talk about his enthusiasms. Boys love food, and moms can do that. Encourage him to have friends over for movies or gaming and provide the snacks (but stay out of the way otherwise). Be comfortable with silence, but be a presence. Engage in "parallel play." Find the likes you share (i.e., favorite TV shows) and make a regular time for them. Sweeten the "date" with a dessert (let him pick). I guess I'm lucky; my three boys are each pretty close to me and it's my girl who's the one I have to work really hard to connect with. Good luck! Even if your efforts aren't fully appreciated now (and they won't be) they will be remembered and appreciated in the long run.
  12. I sure wish I had better photoshopping skills. ;)
  13. Here's a nice way to begin your day: http://photos.rush.c...gMPPNN&lb=1&s=A It's the colour of your heartbeat A rising summer sun The battle lost -- or won The flash to fashion And the pulse to passion
  14. When I need cheering up, or even just friendly commiseration, this one always does it for me: http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2805/8897051210_b83096ce92.jpg
  15. I am happy to hear that. I hope you will post after your concert and let us all know how it went. I imagine there will be a mix of many emotions, but hopefully the happier emotions will prevail.
  16. Where's the evidence of this?? I just noticed that someone has already posted the pic. I recall Big Al talking about quitting on the Rush in Rio DVD, but don't know if he ever did or not. Maybe he's been smoking all along? I'm not sure why, but I was under the impression that Neil was the only one who still smoked. The photos with this interview, including the placement of the "ashtray" suggested to me that Chad was the smoker and he offered Alex a cigarette. Certainly there are people who "don't smoke" (as in regularly), but who will socially smoke the occasional cigarette when in the company of those who do smoke.
  17. Yeah, it does sound a lot like "garden gnome," and I did have to look it up after the first time I heard the song. Now I'm kind of fond of the humor in the image the misheard lyric conjurs—it's quite a contrast with the serious, Arnoldian "confused alarms of struggle and flight."
  18. http://www.thecanadianmusicscene.com/jpgfiles/cshf/rushwithaward_800.jpg Here you go- one of my favorite pictures! Mmm . . . every girl's crazy 'bout some sharp-dressed men!
  19. I have to go with "Working Man," but I'm mighty fond of "Here Again."
  20. And this is why I personally prefer Audrey. My husband seems to find Adele hot. What does he know?
  21. Don't you mean aural sex?
  22. Well, pretty much all of things you've listed happen to be pluses in my book. I guess that explains why I love this band, even though I have two X-chromosomes.
  23. In my alternate reality where I'm not married and neither is Alex, absofrikkenlutely. The fantasy is the combination of the hot monkey sex and the meaningful relationship. Being a one-night port in a storm isn't very appealing to me, not matter who the guy is. Call me old-fashioned. *shrug* On the other hand, there's this: http://photos.rush.com/Rush2013/Nashville/29209579_pZF3kB#!i=2489009477&k=skqCrMb&lb=1&s=A. What was I saying?
  24. Speaking as someone who's been a fan since I was 14 and am of the female persuasion, I was and still am very attracted to the fact that Rush was *not* all about smutty stuff. The Rush song with the most objectifying lyrics is probably "In the Mood," and it's pretty tame (and singular in that focus within the Rush discography). I have always liked smart and interesting lyrics, references to science and literature, and stuff that makes me think, whether or not I agree with the point of view expressed. (And not that that kept me teenage me from dreaming up my own terribly smutty version of the lyrics to "Bastille Day"!) I must beg to differ that one cannot dance to Rush. Indeed, as a synesthete (both music and time have shapes for me) and a retired dancer (ballet and modern dance), I find Rush's music much more appealing than much popular or rock music in its complex shapes, moods, and tempi. In fact, I am convinced that at least one member of the band is also a synesthete—I would love to ask them about that! Maybe it's true you can't just hop back and forth from foot to foot during a Rush song, but that ain't dancing! I will say that my own teen daughter can't stand Rush, whereas my 20-year-old son is a fan. So maybe I'm an outlier. :P
