  3. Let the adulation and comedy begin. Many on the forum have been keeping an eye on these guys waiting for them to review and react to Rush....here it is! It's a blast to listen to these dudes. And this song made the playlist. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B52bvzudAvQ

  4. This may have been discussed previously. If so, sorry I missed it. But...I just found a very high quality (as in professional) video of the whole Counterparts show at Auburn Hills on Youtube. Any idea why the guys don't clean this up and release it on DVD/ Blu-ray? I'll hang up and listen.

  5. I really enjoy these guys .. the fresh perspective is somehow eyeopening to long time metal fans .. they hear things in these songs that helped us all become fans in the first place .. but now we have sort of forgotten about .. or just don't really focus on so much anymore when we listen .. great job guys!!

  6. Vader. Need a Vader focused movie where he’s the killing machine we saw in Rogue One.

  7. I have very little interest in any of those films, as they focus on a specific character. Rogue One was great because it focused on a major event in the Star Wars story - the theft of the plans for the Death Star. If Disney wants to make another Star Wars film, then it should be about another part of the story. Perhaps the formation of the Clone army and the rise of Darth Sidious, or the Great Jedi Purge after Episode III.

  8. They actually took some of the audio from it and put it on the Different Stages recording, I think The Analog Kid recording came from that show. Definitely a very good recording, they played a medley of Xanadu and Hemispheres: Prelude

  9. I'd like to wish everyone on the Rush forum a great winter holiday, whatever you happen to celebrate. Christmas will probably never be the same for me: my wife passed away last November, and now my sister is losing her cancer battle in hospice and may not be around for Christmas this year. Still upon reflection I've been very lucky to have a loving family and great friends. And although I don't know any of you in person, you are all a great bunch of folks and I've enjoyed coming on the forum from time to time to see what's up. Here's the little verse I made up out of Rush lyrics in 2014, revised in 2015. If I had time and patience, I'd try to string all the parts together from the songs - I imagine it would be a pretty weird sounding thing! Anyway, I wish all of you a pleasant time with your friends and family, and safe travels. And if you are going through a hard time at this time of year, I hope you have the support you need to get through it. Did I have a dream? Crimson misty memory At the fireside Through the endless winter storm Endless rooftops from my window Silver, blue and frozen silence A deep Sahara of snow Frozen in an everlasting view I see red A pleasant-faced man His beard is white, his face is lined Bearing a gift beyond price The things I’ve always been denied, Precious gifts beyond compare Time stands still Feelings run high As excitement shivers up and down my spine Then all at once Fly by night away from here To blaze across the heavens like a brilliant shooting star

  17. Please don't forget how to have fun... Blah blah blah. Take that blather and stuff it in your pipe. I’ll have fun when they stop making insultingly bad and stupid movies. Just because it’s a Star Wars movie doesn’t mean I have to swallow all the horseshit they’re shoveling or turn a blind eye to nonsense when I see it. Fück you and your “please don’t forget to have fun”. Condescending asshat.

  18. Go to YouTube and search Rush Tour 94. The whole blessed concert is on there. And doesn't look (or sound) like it was made by a drunk guy with a camcorder. Good stuff.

  19. I've seen that on YouTube and I hope we will see a release of this. That was my first Rush tour. Saw them in Atlanta. I saw that tour at The Omni as well, but it was my fifth tour, I think.

  20. I never cared too much for Dream Theater. I always found that they were good musicians but a little weak in the song writing department.

  21. Interesting these guys poo-poo'd Dream Theater, but loved this. An aside, they associated Rush with dope during the guitar solo. If only they attended a concert...be a lot of dope in the air...just sayin'!!!!

  23. After listening to "Tommy" for what literally could be thousands of times, my copy sits quietly on the shelf waiting for me to be "in the mood" for it. Taken down and spun once, perhaps twice a year. Well, today I listened to the MFSL version of this masterpiece. I don't know if I can find the proper words to describe my thoughts on it today... Brilliant? Genius? Awesome? ...all of those things at once and more. It resonated so strongly within me today. Like having a tea with an old friend. Picking up where you left off like no time had past. How powerful is music? Tom Petty said, "music is the only real magic in the world". How true is that?

  25. I'll give them this....... They seemed to have grasped the concept of Rush and YYZ (in particluar) for the most part. There are a lot of people that listen to "rock" that never have and never will never. It's funny that people who don't listen to much good rock have the opinion about the the bass and the drums being good but they don't have much to say about the electric guitar. The importance of it is probably tone deaf to them until/unless they explore further an develop and ear for it.

  30. Michael Jackson...they connected Michael Jackson with YYZ. Funny stuff. Yeah, the first thing I've always thought of when the groove drops in is Beat It. :laughing guy: Interesting how Geddy really recieved the majority of high praise from Ryan, though all of them got a lot. He was smitten with Ged. It's the FUNK!

  37. If they did a COS 40th anniversary box set I would hope they would reinstate the original artwork as it was intended before it was bronzed over by a record company print error.

  38. I don't get it. What about Def Leppard? They really spearheaded the hair metal poppy type of hard rock with Pyromania. And Hysteria was a huge album as well. Them and Motley Crue should get in before Bon Jovi, if we are talking 80s hair pop metal I agree. Leppard and Crue are much better than Bon Jovi. Scorpions is much better than all three of them. Leppard > Scorps> Crue>Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi's first few albums were pretty good. After New Jersey I don't have any real interest. Leppard fell apart after Adrenalize. But nothing Bon Jovi released is in Pyromania's class.

  41. Bon Jovi is generic. I'll give them props for being good at what they do and for providing whatever it is their fan base loves, but ain't hall of fame worthy. They are to the millions who love them and they were a huge reason many kids got into rock and metal. Simple as. You like shit music too, in the eyes of many. I understand the shit music I like doesn't belong in any type of hall of fame. Like a lot of people, I do not regard Bon Jovi as shit. I think they are a great mainstream rock band with enough hits and deeper cuts worthy of checking out, b-sides, rarities and demos to deserve a real mention amongst other greats. I think Bon Jovi are one of the finest rock bands of all time. They are a good band. End of story. You love them and that's cool. But as far as talent, songwriting, producing, etc.. they were very far from one of the finest rock bands of all time. Extremely far...

  43. The plot to this mess was totally unfucking believable: we're to accept the fact that OTHER bad guy space ships (One Republic or The New Order or Fallout Vader, whatever the hell they're called) couldn't jump in front of the rebels and finish them off? Really? The entire plot was laughably contrived and much of what followed was equally as foolish and boring. The whole casino trip was DUMB, oh and they just happen to run into a super thief/codebreaker in jail...right. None of that had to happen if the ultimate end game they had in mind was the fight scenes on Snoke's ship. None of that wasted time was necessary nor was it very interesting. Why exactly is Kylo Ren evil? Why? His character makes zero sense. Perhaps the thing between he and Luke was a more formative experience but did they elaborate on it? Hell no. It's all vague and up to second guessing. There has to be a Vader stand in so I guess he'll do. Did Han beat him as a child or get drunk and slap Leia around? I suspect we'll never know exactly why he's the bad guy. Rey...apparently she's a Jedi Master now even after telling Luke, all teary eyed, that she's afraid of what's inside of her. Guess 3 quick lessons is all it takes to become a powerful Master. Dumb. But hey, she had to get on that ship and fight Ren by the end of the movie and set up the next film so why not. Yawn. Leia...holy balls! Who needs Luke Skywalker when the Princess can go all Force Mary Poppins and fly through space like that. The worst part of that is that we've NEVER seen any indication that she has that kind of control with the Force. We were always told she had it but she's never displayed it like that before. Plus it was kinda comical and not in the goofy, predictable, groan inducing comical way the rest of the move tried to be. Snoke...just who the hell is this guy? Where did he come from? How did he get to become leader of One Republic? Doesn't matter now I guess. Oh well. There were a few good parts like Laura Dern's sacrifice which was pretty cool, Luke's mind f**k on everyone at the end...though I was hoping for an epic light saber duel between he and Ren. I did not like this movie at all. Bloated, entirely too long, too many characters doing mostly boring, nonsensical and stupid things to fit the plot. It could be that I'm expecting too much from a silly Star Wars movie or it could be that these movies are the same but I'm 47 now rather than 7 or 10 or 13. Probably a mixture of the two.

  45. The lack of Radiohead is surprising and disappointing. You'd think they'd realize that's almost inarguably the most important (not best, not anything else, but important) rock group since Nirvana. I'm all for saying they're probably overrated, but much in the same way The Beatles are a bit overrated: deservedly. The lack of Priest is not surprising, but even more disappointing. Rob had been getting fans hopes up for this for the past few months. Honestly disgraceful of the hall not to acknowledge their legendary status. There isn't a metal band in existence that doesn't have some debt to Priest, and they all know it too. Glad to see the Cars and The Moodies get in. Ambivalent about BJ given the bands that were left out. Dire Straits shouldn't have made the cut over Priest, Radiohead, or RATM really. Nina I don't really listen to, but that name sounds like one that I'd have thought was inducted long ago. I'd have let BJ and DS wait another year and pulled in Priest and Radiohead.
