  1. We've had a rainy night and a drizzly morning. It's tapered off mostly but outside it's still cold and grey. So one of my fellow workers comes back from lunch, and another project manager who sits in the bullpen behind mine asks, "Is it still raining?" Co-worker responds, "No, but the fog is getting thicker." Cue Mara, in a gleeful near-shout, "AND LEON'S GETTING LARGER!" I never, ever think quickly enough in these situations, but this time I timed it perfectly. I am so proud of my moment of quick-wittedness. Best part - almost everyone got it and cracked up; someone remarked, "looks like I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue."

  2. Before I comment on the videos, does anyone know who the woman is with Geddy in that middle picture? She has my eyes. Hahaha - or should I say I have her eyes?? Whatever...we have the same eyes. :) It is no small task for me to watch these as I have only that dastardly and mostly useless dial up. However, I made a grand effort to watch the first one and will watch the second but I am having trouble loading it for some reason. Anyway, Geddy sounds tired in the first one. Also, I have noticed that when he is up on stage and there is a great distance between himself and the fans, he is more open. When he is close to anyone that he doesn't know well (be it a meet and greet session or an interview like this), I have noticed that the arms are always crossed over the chest and he seems guarded. Open, but guarded. In any event, I admire how unruffled he seems to be. Always calm and serene and at peace with himself. An amazing man. Considering his fame and the adulation of some females. Not us, of course. But, believe it or not, there are women out there who go nutsy over him. Honest. I am not lying. Can you believe it??

  6. If you listened to Geddy on today's WSJ live interview, he made several references to how hard doing a live show is on his voice and the health of his vocal cords.....he said he is forced to not talk on off days and spends those days resting in bed.... he said he needs an extended rest after this tour.... while an R40 tour could start in the fall of 2014, not sure that even a year off the road would be enough for him. I say an R40 tour seems remote but I remain hopeful....

  8. Can you still poke someone on facebook? I always thought that was a bit silly - ___ _____ poked you, ____ ______ poked you back... Yes, you still can do that. Find the person's profile, click on a box with some text like Poke, Block etc, and press poke. It probably is a bit silly, but I take it in fun. :) I poke all the time. :laughing guy: ON FACEBOOK !!!!

  9. Today, here's a video. See Geddy's eyes play peekaboo with us over his glasses! Also, "My life in comedy is an open book." :rfl: http://youtu.be/HohTwCHvMtk And of course, now that we've watched that, we should watch this: http://youtu.be/WOVh_C7XTHA An enduring classic, and a big part of the reason I fell in love with Geddy in the first place

  13. It isn't anything like Insurgentes. Not sayin that it is bad or anything just 100% different. I didn't mean to say that it is anything like Insurgentes. What I meant was that this album, to me, is on the same level as Insurgentes with regards to how much I like it.

  14. Mr Wilson has created a masterpiece. Sure, there is a heavy early 70's Jazz/Prog influence (I'm thinking Lizard era King Crimson) but this album still sounds awesome. The only track that is not really grabbing me so far is "The Pin Drop". Everything else is sublime.

  16. There should be a new Jekyll Hyde flick with YOU as the dual character. The difference would be that you'd go apeshit as both the murderous Mister duck and as the civilised Doctor tree. Hell, you could even play the degenerate gambler/womaniser AND the thug boozer who gets a beat down.

  18. http://img.dooyoo.co.uk/GB_EN/orig/0/8/0/4/6/804661.jpg This is a slightly different take on the Jekyll and Hyde story, where Hyde is portrayed as a soft spoken smoothie, who charms people...at first. The interesting thing to me was how different the actor playing both roles looked as each one. When he first became Hyde I was like, wait a minute...different actor? And they made him look different just with a beard, bushy eyebrows and a different hairstyle. A decent performance by the guy made it work as well, he had a crazy grin that was very Mr Hyde. Christopher Lee scores too as a degenerate gambler and womaniser, and Oliver Reed makes an early appearance as a thug boozer who gets a beat down.

  19. In "A Few Good Men" terms, these are the facts and they are indisputable: 1. They're not retiring any time soon. 2. They love playing and they love working together. 3. They want a nice break after this tour ends. 4. They're old and they have limited time to keep doing this before they can't anymore 5. R40 is a great marketing opportunity Can't say whether that translates into a tour in late 2014 or something in 2015. They probably don't even know yet. My gut says an R40 tour with a few new songs like on Time Machine that either begins late 2014 or gets pushed off till Spring 2015. Either way we will see them again and it won't be multiple years before we do. They know they have a small window at this point in their career and lives.

  20. That's strange, because I use e-mail quite often to communicate with friends and family. I also use Facebook, but I control it. It does not control me. I know many people who don't use any social media at all. They have cell phones and they use e-mail, but that's it. They're too busy to waste time with social media, and if they did have the time, they still wouldn't use it. They have more important things to do....

  22. That's actually 2011's list. My bad...these are the Billboard rankings..sorry bout that. Would that be considered false advertising? #32 is what they ranked in 2012 based on their earnings in 2011. This year, they rank #28 based on their earnings in 2012: #28 Rush $8,719,834.30 With or without recognition from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Rush fans are tremendously loyal, turning out en masse for tours and ponying up for records, the latter to the tune of more than 500,000 physical units in 2012. These guys are perennials.

  29. The fact that they felt the need to release a statement attempting to explain the induction process is more revealing than what's in the statement itself. If acts were truly inducted based on "impact, influence, innovation and excellence" there wouldn't be any controversy about the Hall of Fame. This is the truest statement yet! :ebert:

  33. It's certainly dying as means of instant communication with friends and family. E-mail still has uses though when it comes to sending files and using it for buisness purposes. When you order things online, they will usually ask for your address then mail you a confirmation on the order you made. It will stay around because it still serves a purpose. It's just a different purpose than what it used to be back during the internet boom of the mid 90s. My e-mail address on AOL has been the same since 1996. If that shows my age (i'm only 34) it doesn't bother me. I've had no reason to change it and don't plan on changing it anytime soon. I don't do any of the social media stuff either because I find that I don't have a need for it. I don't run a buisness or rely on the public to make money so there's no reason for me to have a facebook or twitter account. Anybody I stay in contact with has my phone number. They can call or text me if they got something to say.

  35. Emily Carr is an extremely expensive school in an extremely expensive city. Dunno about Concordia, but I doubt it's very different. I don't want to sound too discouraging, but digital media is an incredibly competitive business and given the cost of tuition and the relatively small number of jobs in the field, you really have to be an outstanding and driven worker to make it worthwhile. It's not something you can go into just because your parents are pushing you into college; that's a good way to end up saddled with student loan bills and no real prospects. I learned that the hard way. If you're genuinely incredibly passionate about it, AND you're willing to work your ass off for it, AND you can handle the networking stuff, then sure, go for it. But make sure you've explored all your options first, and don't be afraid to put college off for a year or two (or even more) to save up some dough, get contacts and references, and learn more about the industry.

  42. I know you live off of the grid... However I am right in the middle of the state that started it all... so I promise you that yes, it is real. http://www.pinkcheeks.com/ Also, you can already buy bleach for facial hair. Well, holy Jesus Christ... I've seen everything now. Question - Why does it matter what color your asshole is? Isn't that the part of your body where actual shit comes out? Even the most revealing of bikinis wouldn't show your asshole... Even if you walked around completely buck naked, you STILL wouldn't see your asshole. Unless, of course, you dropped your car keys and then you bent over (waaaaaaaaaaaaaay over) and your friend (a very, VERY good friend) used both of his or her hands and spread your buns waaaaay apart. Then, okay, I could see why one desire to have a "bleached asshole." Just wondering... (Off the gridness) And, I guess I could add quite frankly, that even though I haven't actually checked, I can assume that my asshole is brown. Why? Because shit comes out of it every day. Nearly every day... Maybe we should start a new thread, eh????????????????????????????????? These days you've got girls trying to shove 8 guys up their bungholes at once. http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff508/blackcc/Smilies%20GIFs/hmm_zps43d63a5c.gif Links??? http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff508/blackcc/Smilies%20GIFs/ohnoes_zpsc1e9b5fe.gif It was an exaggeration (I hope). If I had actually witnessed something like that I'd be here crying... still. I'll send you some links. :laughing guy: Just tell me how many simultaneous penetrations you can handle seeing. :LMAO: That depends on who's starring. If it's Ron Jeremy then I can handle zero. Awww...Not a fan? http://i1239.photobucket.com/albums/ff508/blackcc/LOLlapalooza/bilde_zpsf3041884.jpg Aww, you don't love him? What's not to love about him? Is it his mustache? I'm really regretting posting that picture. It totally kills the vibe of this thread. You loved looking up Ron Jeremy just as much as you love posting pictures of him. :)

  43. That's Scorsese's favourite Kubrick film, and Ridley Scott too I think... not sad the sense of a poor movie...just the story. Wished he would've made Napoleon. He didn't make many films too bad for us. Ryan O'meal had some good moments. Yeah I knew what you meant. I haven't seen it myself for ages, early 80s maybe... it still holds up...the only aspect that seems dated are the battle scenes. Otherwise the kraft is outstanding I just saw Barry Lyndon for the first time about a month ago. It's not my favorite but it's still great. My favorite of Kubrick's would probably be A Clockwork Orange or Dr. Strangelove. But something like Full Metal Jacket I can watch a billion times (and I have). Hell, even something subpar (for Kubrick) like Eyes Wide Shut I found to be quite watchable (and it's not just because of Kidman's ass!!!). ha! And something like 2001 is like Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon...it deserves every bit of praise it can get. 2001 never gets old to me...I've realized that most of the Sci-Fi films i used to enjoy are just child's play compared to this film...get the DVD commentary with Keir Dullea and Gary Lockwood—you learned so much about the process of making this grand movie.
