We have our ways.   I just found it funny that someone thought she was a centrist. Not sure if that shows how goofy the media is or how goofy the political system is.

The media.  Feinstein would not have referred to herself as a centrist.  No one who follows U.S. politics who is honest would either.   It would be like calling Tom Cotton a centrist.

Why not both?

The Washington Post referring to Diane Feinstein as a "centrist stalwart". :rofl2:

How about people get out of Congress or the presidency before they die from old age?

That's really cold, can't even show some respect for her passing.  She was a centrist in her heyday, by today's standards it's a muddle.  I feel bad that politics kept her from resigning so she could have been at home in her beloved state to pass there.

As for replacing the old politicians, looking at the current crop of new people in the House, it's not an encouraging sight.  Bunch of mindless fools willing to tear everything up so they can get a soundbite.  No wonder the older Reps and Senators are reluctant to turn the reins over, they are trying to keep us from going over the cliff with the lemmings.

What made you laugh this week?

I drove down to Cincinnati this past Friday for some vacation time.  Lots of family and friends to visit.

As I entered the Cincinnati area, I started scanning the radio stations.  I arrived at the long time classic rock station, WEBN, which I followed religiously when I lived in the area long ago.  I have since given up on classic rock, as I got sick of the extreme overplay of certain old songs.  I tuned into WEBN 102.7 anyway, out of curiosity.

Guess what song was playing?  Yep, it was Stairway to Heaven.

Three days later, I’m on my way to see some friends, and I turn the radio on.  I scan through the channels and arrive at WEBN again.

Guess what song was playing….again?   Yep, it was Stairway to Heaven.

I can explain this. Most radio stations have a contractually agreed upon setlist for their formats and will play many songs ad nauseum. (A friend in the business admitted this to me.) As we move away from traditional radio, this will be less relevant to us as listeners, who have many other options.

Today I laughed at being considered part of the "monied" demographic. For the modern American, looking prosperous on paper can lead to so many dumb situations.

https://babylonbee.com/news/emperor-hirohito-calls-for-ceasefire-after-bombing-of-pearl-harbor

TOKYO — After a devastating and tragic surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, Japanese Emperor Hirohito has called for a ceasefire.

"The loss of life on both sides is a tragedy," Hirohito said in a speech requesting an end to hostilities. "Now that we have pulverized the American naval fleet, we respectfully request that the United States look for ways to promote peace and not take any steps to retaliate until we attack you again. Thank you."

American leaders had already begun talks to enter the war against the Axis Powers but were now bombarded with calls to engage in peace talks instead. "The timing of Japan's request does seem a little suspicious," said Captain Mike Rotunda, a United States Navy spokesman. "I mean, they literally asked for a ceasefire immediately after attacking us. It puts us in a weird position because that's not really how ceasefires work."

Segments of the American public pleaded with leaders to hold back on planning a counterattack and instead listen to Japanese calls for peace. "It would be immoral to strike back at Japan," said one Congressman. "Yes, they just bombed America's naval base. Yes, they seriously crippled our fleet. Yes, they killed over 2,000 Americans. But now they want peace, so we should totally believe them. It's not like they would do anything sneaky."

At publishing time, U.S. officials had tentatively agreed to a ceasefire in good faith despite new reports that more Japanese planes laden with bombs were on their way to Hawaii.

While exiting the local home improvement store today, I happened to look over at the Customer Service counter....and did a huge double-take at the smoking hot redhead behind the counter.  One of those "stop dead in your tracks" moments.

She looked right at me and smiled.   BUSTED!!

I'm sure you're sorry about this one as well.
