Jack Aubrey
I had a double-feature night last night: Megan Leavey and Wonder Woman. Both are excellent and very highly recommended! Warning: Megan Leavey just might make you tear up a little. Megan Leavey trailer:
invisible airwave
Election. Hadn't seen it in years. I had forgotten what an awful person Matthew Broderick's character is in the movie! Always be nice to the custodian! ;) Saw part of it on Showtime yesterday flipping through the live feed on its Roku channel. One of my favorite movies of all time. Payne is one of my favorite directors and his upcoming movie looks very good and unique, Downsizing.

Good performances though from Bobby, Barkin, and a very young Leo DiCap. I think this came out right before Gilbert Grape. A little slow in parts but it kept my interest throughout. Touching, optimistic, and much more down to earth than most other Ghibli stuff. The only strike i'd give it is that it took a little bit to get moving. Satisfying resolution. goose
The Dutch Girl. I can't stand the actor's constant blinking and demure looking away. Hated him in Magnificent Beasts... and hated him in this one. The actress that played his wife was wxcelkent, I thought.

JohnnyBlaze
http://www.impawards.com/2016/posters/tarzan_ver5_xlg.jpg There's nothing bad here really but there's also not too much to be excited about either. That's unfortunate because the cast was fine and the movie took a chance being a different kind of Tarzan flick. So they did well not to retell the wild man in a loin cloth being discovered tale again. Still, I didn't feel much drama or danger for any of the characters. And there was no need for Sam Jackson in there. Naturally, he managed to still be Sam Jackson even in the Tarzan universe. This was evident when he made a joke about licking a gorilla's nuts to apologize. Grade: C Edited September 25, 2017 by JohnnyBlaze
