invisible airwave Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 I would have posted it earlier but I thought I'd wait until the thread got bumped. CONAN O'BRIEN IS HOSTING THE OSCARS! About time that the GOAT of post Carson late night got the gig. Also, highly recommend his recent guest appearance on Hot Ones.
Principled Man Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 A belated birthday gift from my niece, whom I trained in the mystic arts of Rush fandom years ago….. 2

invisible airwave Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Dave Holmes is now a DJ on Sirius XM Lithium. Loved his columns he's done for certain magazines and was probably that last decent VJ that MTV had. Way better than Jesse Camp from that contest. Remember him? 1
BastillePark Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 Sometime recently, Sleepy Joe decided that today (Christmas Eve) was going to be a federal holiday. The problem with that is that we already had patients scheduled and the guidance was, we couldn't cancel or re-schedule them unless they wanted to be seen yesterday or earlier today. Most of them agreed but a couple weren't able to so I'll work my normal shift. The part that "made my day" is, it's holiday pay which is double time. A nice, unexpected Christmas bonus. Thanks, taxpayers. 1
jamie Posted January 3 Posted January 3 My boyfriend’s aunt delivered her baby girl! Can’t wait to meet her! 3
Sun & Moon Posted January 5 Posted January 5 (edited) Today I went to the local department store. After I got the receipt I took a closer look at the small print on the last row: "The code for the toilet door is 2112". I wonder who's behind this idea? Edited January 5 by Sun & Moon 1
Principled Man Posted January 9 Posted January 9 After many agonizing days of trying to finding private transport for my mother (wheelchair van), I was set up with a transport company that services elderly and disabled people here and there. Mom now has transport to her medical appointments, and it only costs $4.50 a trip. 2

jamie Posted January 16 Posted January 16 I picked up a free Nancy Drew hardcover from my health and human services office today. it was one of three books in the free book bin. 2
Sun & Moon Posted February 9 Posted February 9 I found a large, beautiful light yellow pottery vase near the recycling bins of our apartment house. After a careful wash it will be perfect for ornamental plants in our balcony next summer. I will not plant any rare species or share seedlings so I don't really worry about possible plant diseases. And some of the diseases might have died in the -2 Celsius weather as well.
invisible airwave Posted February 13 Posted February 13 The son of David Bowie liked a skeet of mine about Depeche Mode on BlueSky. He's done some good movies as well in the director's chair like Moon and Source Code. 1
Inthend Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Funny the things you remember. Funny the things you're reminded of. Stumbled on this song someone had posted in the comments of a Facebook thread today. My momma would sing some of this song to me when I was very young. As she sang she would put her hands together and make a fish "fimmin' in the sea". She passed away last month from Parkinson's. God granted much grace and mercy to her and our family thruout the years and final days of her life. It made my day to have this memory brought to the surface. 🐟🐟🐟 "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever." 3

My condolences for your great loss, Inthend. Memories are truly a funny thing. They appear the very moment you'd least expect. I'm glad that you and your family have a big sea of good memories of your mother. May she rest in peace in the loving hands of God. 1
BastillePark Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Seeing various posts with the OPM email and phone numbers related to Musk's companies. Hopefully a lot of people will email and call.
Principled Man Posted March 17 Posted March 17 I finally got around to getting my exhaust system replaced. It was long overdue! The car is now so quiet, I almost double-cranked the ignition. 1 1
Principled Man Posted April 8 Posted April 8 The cemetery two blocks down is expanding, so many trees are being cut down. Lots of free firewood! 2

Sun & Moon Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Seeing a lot of wood anemones in the forest floor while I was on a Good Friday stroll with my husband.
pjbear05 Posted May 25 Posted May 25 Food shopping, Publix has its on again, off again buy two, get two free deal on 2 liter Coca-Cola products. I reach for one (they're on a top shelf) and stop. Yellow caps? WTF, that stuff should have disappeared two weeks ago. Pull one of those down and yep, printed in half English, half Hebrew. It's Kosher Coke (Coca-Cola Classic Kosher for Passover-table sugar instead of HFCS). Grab four of them, and while the first 2 of them ring up regular price, the 2nd pair print as "Promotion-$0.00. Nice Memorial Day present. 1
