Segue Myles
This must be my lucky day! I just encountered a courteous skunk who could have but didn't spray me! :) I heard you playing "The Weapon" and had mercy on you. :D I scared it, and it scared me. It should have sprayed me, but I'm grateful it didn't. In the UK we have such wimpy wildlife we flinch at garden snails.

goose
So on top of seeing and jamming with my high school friend, I went to an actual jam last night. I figured I already had all my gear in my car (guitar, amp, some pedals,) so it was finally time to bite the bullet and make the drive. I had a great time. Got to play Red House, Pride and Joy, and Jesus Just Left Chicago as the only guitar player. I thought the drummer was going to sing JJLC, but he tried to play dumb like he didn't know the words, and told me I had to sing it. I knew he was full of shit lying, but I went ahead and did it. I played through a few other songs I didn't know (there was another guitar player on with me during those,) so I tried learning them as the songs went along. In all it was a great time, and I plan on going back the next couple weeks.Your story makes me miss being in a band... :(

goose
Oddly...my experience today at the DMV. It ended up taking 90 minutes, but I ran into a former student and got to have a great conversation with her about where her life has gone over the years. I also ran into a school trustee and got to share my insight regarding the progress of our Race to the Top district project. The cerry on top was that the DMV lady was really nice. :)

Janie
My youngest, five, has recently become obsessed with Star Wars. I am speechless. Star Wars came out when I was five and I was obsessed. Saw it SO MANY times at the drive-in. We watched the movie on designated pizza/movie/kid night (Friday) and my youngest was mesmerized! His outfit today was black pants, black shirt, cape (it was red but hey, that's all we got) and a Darth Vader mask that we've had for years and which they have not cared about this entire time. He walked down the stairs, breathing heavily into the mask and did the whole Darth Vader thing. Proud mom.

Polaris
This was yesterday. I went outside with my Pantera shirt on. A lot of people complimented my shirt! I had a doctors appointment as well and when he finished the check-up, I discussed music with him. He's also a heavy metal fan and saw my favorite bands live back in the day. While waiting for the bus to take me to a Barnes & Noble, a middle aged guy noticed my shirt and talked to me about seeing Pantera in the late '90s and we discussed heavy metal. The bus driver that drove me to B&N also complimented my shirt and if that wasn't enough, a guy sitting with his wife in front of me liked my shirt! Then I arrived at B&N to pick up Rush's Hemispheres and GUP on CD. To top it off, my parents and I went to Starbucks and got a large caramel Frappucino to share between the three of us. All of that made my day! Edited August 12, 2015 by Polaris
Maverick
Just booked my yearly post-Labor Day trip to Ocean City, MD. It's been a long, stressful year. I'm really looking forward to washing all that stress away in the early September waves of the Atlantic.

Still little enough to not feel weird about it I have one that I can still do that with. My older son is about to start middle school, so I definitely wouldn't do that to him. But the funny thing is, I know he still has times when he wouldn't mind it. It's kind of funny, too, because he's about 5'6", and 130 lbs...he's the size of a small-ish adult. But he's eleven years old. And he's definitely still a kid inside. Edited August 13, 2015 by Blue J
