Just picked up Predator by Patricia Cornwell at the library. So far, pretty good. Typical Kay Scarpetta.

I've got two Cornwell books I bought at garage sales, but haven't read either. "Body Farm" and "From Potter's Field."

Any good?

Both are good.

If you haven't read any Cornwell, you might not know that most of her books are written in a series, with Kay Scarpetta, medical examiner, as the main character. I think each book stands alone fairly well, but you do get a much better overall sense of character development if you read them in order if possible.

There's a timeline here: http://www.patriciacornwell.com/work.html.

I'm re-re-reading biggrin.gif the Mitford books by Jan Karon. I love them because they remind me of growing up in a small town. They may be a bit whimsical and "Mayberry-ish," but sometimes I need a good dose of that kind of idealism. I wish the world worked as well as Mitford's world works...

If you've read these, perhaps you know what I mean.

"Perhaps almost anyone could love, he thought; it was the loving back that seemed to count for everything."

My children know this pretty well. wub.gif

Reading "What Liberal Media?" by Eric Alterman; kinda completes my "liberal thought" trifecta, following "Wake up, You're Liberal" by Ted Rall, and "Big Lies" by Joe Conason.

(Sorry, this is just what I'm reading now. Don't want this thread to end up in the political forum.)

he is a real player, at the time King wrote the book Tom "Flash" Gordon was the closer for the Boston Red Sox, but shortly after the book was written he developed injury problems that forced the Sox to let him go in free agency. He now is the closer for the Phillies, and made the All Star team this season.......
