stoopid
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kODOf2vuTg More Nu Metal to my ears, that chorus is too catchy for most metal purist's sensitive sensibilities. SSotS is dark, and the groove (like most Squire bass lines it seems from that era) is gritty/raw, but I'm not sure this would necessarily be metal (by any era's standards). Yes is not a metal band. Square peg + round hole = stoopid twitchy
stoopid
To play along (for purely academic reasons ;) ), I submit Heart of a Sunrise. To my ears, their 'heaviest' sound:Â

Maybe the End section of Starship Trooper as well. SSOTS is easily one of my absolute favorite Yes songs, if not just my favorite. Steve Howe is a madman.

Steve Howe is a madman.I think it's a perfect example of a Yes song, you have the heaviness of the beginning and the end and the softness of the middle section. Plus it's not so self-indulgent and difficult to listen to like Tales from the Topographic Oceans or Close to the Edge (song) Edited July 15, 2018 by HemiBeers
pjbear05
Most metal bands have never created something as heavy as South Side Of The Sky^^^This. Chris' bass lines, that jagged, grinding organ sound unique to Hammond, Steve's final guitar solo. City of Love is ok, but pure wankery compared to SSotS.
