Rutlefan
Maybe this has been done before and clearly there's no shortage of favorite threads in general, but I was listening to Catherine Wheel's Ferment and thought how much I loved (love) "Shoegaze", and realized that My Bloody Valentine's Loveless is probably my single favorite album, by anyone of any kind, which of course for anyone who loves music is a lofty recognition, seeing as how I could name at least twenty albums I really love. So what's yours. The idea is that you can only list one, no ties or honorable mentions (I've seen the top five/ten/twenty/etc threads already -- Segue, I know you can't help yourself so you can go ahead and give us your top 30). My FOAT: My Bloody Valentine "Loveless"... an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0dJqlvOSq4 Edited January 3, 2018 by Rutlefan
Segue Myles
Lacuna Coil- Karmacode I won't claim it's the greatest album of all time. But its my most treasured album by anyone and it never fails to consume me everytime I revisit it. Have played it likely around 5000 times by now. Cristina Scabbias voice alongside Andrea Ferros gruffer tone is my all time favourite dual vocal act, and Christian's voice on Karmacode is my favourite studio work of anyone ever. I adore the synth, Arabic influences and the metallic edge of this album. It's just perfection. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=l8jd4wsaS8s Edited January 3, 2018 by Segue Myles
Rutlefan
^^ I've seen you mention them a hundred times but this is the first track I've checked out. Very nice. And they're from the city I'd most like to visit (I've been to Italy a couple times but never Milan).

Rutlefan
^^ ESL was in the running for me as well. Hemispheres not too far behind though ESL has my favorite bits. ESL is probably my DID if only getting one album (I know it bears repeat listens as I've probably heard it hundreds of times over my life).

Rutlefan
I'm building storage shelves in the basement and have had this, Wish You Were Here, and The Kinks are the Village Green... on constant rotation (they just seem to set the mood I need to not hate the work). I'm not even that big of a Queen fan, but just really love this album. Factoid, I work at a place that ran the New Horizons mission to Pluto. Brian May had been named as a "scientific collaborator" and visited along with a visit(s) to NASA. I could have met him but didn't know he was part of the event and passed on attending. I would have bothered him to sign my original issue LP but just really wish I had got to meet him. One of my favorites no doubt. http://www.nasa.gov/...lutopalooza.jpg Edited January 3, 2018 by Rutlefan

I wish you could've met him as well! ANATO is just such a perfect album to my ears. It has everything I didn't even know I wanted in an album. It's outlandish and completely un-self-aware, but totally confident in every move it makes and so passionately executed!
