  3. There is only one album from me this year . Song For Our Daughter - Laura Marling . I`ve listened to McCartney`s , Dylan and AC/DC but i would`nt say they were albums of the year or any year . But if Box sets count , Thin Lizzy , Legends is bloody brilliant
  4. How do you like it? Hello fellow Mancunian ! You may or may not know I`m a big Beatle fan , so much my son was named after Paul McCartney . So what did I think of it ? I did`nt like it For me Macca`s voice has been shot to bits since the late 90`s I know it`s "Unpolished " and I should be grateful that he`s still recording etc , but I don`t really like his albums for the last 20 years . There is a bit of a quiver in it but he gets around it I think. I have listened to a few more times of some tracks and it was`nt as painful . Don`t think it will be in my collection any time though . What about the last few of his albums? Not a fan of them really . Flaming Pie is Ok and Chaos In Creation is also not bad , the songwriting is typical Macca , but his voice . I wasn`t all that keen on McCartney II when that came out . You can imagine at that time I was listening to The Wall Hemispheres , Gabriel 3 and then you stick on Temporary Secretary . I`ve struggled for many years with Macca`s solo stuff . Flowers In The Dirt was the last album I really played and enjoyed , but was his back to touring album so I got to see the tracks live , that helped .

  8. That's quite the story! Thank you ! Typo on the Hear , it should be here . OH dear :) There is one more Beatle / Rush connection I saw Lennon on the Old Grey Whistle Test in 1975 ish , and that was amazing , so I watched the show every week or when every it was on . Then in late 1977 The O.G.W.T. showed a little clip of Rush and that they were touring the U.K. early next year . Next day me and my Queen loving and drum nut school mate could`nt believe the size of the kit , I could`nt believe that there were two twin necks ! So we got tickets for our first concert . Rush , Farewell To Kings Tour . Manchester Apollo 1978 .

  17. Kiss And I think they cover a few other worst categories
  18. Fake Plastic Trees Aqualung - Jethro Tull
  19. Good points Mosher I just think that the bands such as Rush and Yes did`nt need to follow down that horrid road of that 80`s soulless sound Peter Gabriel still shone in the 80`s and he was probably at his most successful period then as a solo artist
  20. What a bloody good question ! I wish I had an answer for it that makes sense As as far I was concerned it did`nt make any sense It almost destroyed Yes , Rush , Jethro Tull , Mike Oldfield ( out for debate on Mike ) finished Floyd , and many more I had to live through that decade and as it went on I thought Music was dead and I even started selling off my albums as you could`nt buy decent record players anymore and they even stopped selling flared Jeans , my life was in a right state , so much I got married and settled down
  21. I know I know. I liked "Baby" when it came out. Filled with hits with a more fresh modern Euro sound. Today the album puts me to sleep like most modern UPOO. Give me "Party Girl" live! "Do you know what I mean?" Like a trampoline ... I have to that was one song I did`nt like ! Unforgettable Fire is a great album , just needed to turn up the amps a bit .
  22. There was such dire Music in the 80`s U2 were a band that still played their own instruments and were great live So I will always have a soft spot for them Don`t agree with that they hav`nt done a good album since the Joshua Tree Achtung Baby was a breath of fresh air after the end of one of the worst decades in Music :finbar:
