Easy poll for me.

CA, SA, VT = Three best albums

the first 4 > the last 4

But the first 3 vs. the last 3... can't really say. confused13.gif

Now this changes everything...add 2112, old rush ---> shoot to the moon...

add T4E, new rush <---- sink like a stone.

Can't see how the first three can stack up against the last three overall, considering you've got CoS in there -- the album that nearly killed the band and produced the "Down the Tubes" tour.

I piced they last 3. Even though the sound quality is not the best I do enjoy and connect with those last 3 more. I could never get into the debut or Fly by night....just such a hard listen for me. Although, COS is fuckng great 1022.gif

So last 3

Oh fer fecksake, the most recent three. The first three are my least favorite Rush albums...ever. Period.

CA is better than any of them.

You cranky old schoolers crack me up. Give me Headlong Flight over In The Mood, thanks! Give me the title track to CA over Fountain Of Cobbled Together Bit & Pieces Posing As A Song. ANY random 3 Rush albums are better than the first three.

Hmm...

Rush: only enjoy Working Man

FBN: only enjoy title track and Bytor

CoS: can't listen to anything on the album

VT: very good songs, however held back by production, mixing, etc., so it's unlistenable

SnA: Far Cry, Workin' Them Angels, The Main Monkey Business I really enjoy. Few others I'm working on

CA: I love the entire album and it's in my top 5. (#3 currently, but time will tell where it ends up, but will be in my top 5 regardless.)

Easy choice for me. CA pretty much carries the Modern era, while CoS hampers the early years. Also, I've always thought of the first 3 as being a period of the band "finding their sound", which was established at 2112. So because of this, that also holds back the first 3.

Definitely the last 3.

Another strike against the first three is Neil's absence on the first album.

Don't misunderstand, I like all the albums. From the first, I can listen to Finding My Way and Working Man any day.

I like a lot on Fly By Night, including the title track, Anthem, BB&B Making Memories and In the End.

On CoS, enjoy Bastille Day and Lakeside Park.

But up against the last three, I'd take them without a moment hesitation.

Rush and CA are pretty much awesome all the way through.

Caress of Steel and S&A are both about 60% awesome.

FBN blows VT away by a hundred million miles.

The first three! yes.gif 1287.gif

That's a pretty good assessment, actually.
