  1. There is a difference between closure of Rush as a touring/material creating entity and my journey/love of the material that they created for over 40 years. The former may have occurred but the latter will live on indefinitely for me.
  2. I think this is one of Neil's most underrated lyrics and seldom quoted. The use of "wrench" is brilliant... "I feel the sense of possibilities, I feel the wrench of hard realities".
  3. I was at the Maple Gardens show on September 21, 1984 show and also on the following night too. I remember the camera crews being active during the entire show. The one I remember the most was the one overhead above the floor seats. Oddly I recall that just before the band took the stage, there was still some painting going on towards the back of the stage (the part that mimics the album cover, near the p/g part). Too bad the entire show and drum solo wasn't released with the DVD.
  4. They are both great tracks. It is simply so great to hear new material.
  5. A top 100 would be easier but I'll put these 10 out there without any order: Subdivisions The Analog Kid The Weapon Marathon Territories Available Light Xanadu Natural Science Between the Wheels The Garden

    I am...You Are

With recency bias, I know hearing "new" music always sounds so fresh but "I am...You Are" is terrific! Geddy's brilliance in his song writing, vocalization and arrangement shines so much again here.
  7. How can you not feel emotional with Geddy's last answer? It was so much more than just the end of Rush.
  8. The Analog Kid (you move me, you move me...you call me, you call me...). Subdivisions and The Analog Kid back to back, it really doesn't get much better than that!

    A new Lerxst solo!

This is a really cool song with some sweet guitar at the end.
  10. When I was 13, my sister brought home a cassette which contained Hemispheres and Permanent Waves. I heard this instrumental that I was fascinated by, flipped over the cassette and played the first 2 tracks so I could listen to the instrumental again. Those songs were of course La Villa Strangiato, The Spirit of Radio and Freewill. I then got into the rest of the cassette and fell in love with this band!
  11. I would be even more happily married if my wife reacted so positively to Rush as her.

  13. I loved HYF on first listen and still do to this day. The most underrated song is High Water, a great way to end the album. Time Stand Still, Second Nature and Mission are classics to me.
  14. "Record in January and release the album in March"...that changed a bit over the years...
  15. A baseball podcast including an interview with Geddy Lee, just dropped today courtesy of Mike Wilner's podcast called "Deep Left Field". Geddy's portion starts at 32:35. https://www.thestar.com/podcasts/deepleftfield/2022/06/09/the-spirit-of-radio-and-baseball-with-geddy-lee.html
  16. The released material from the live Toronto shows in 1981 is terrific. It doesn't bother me that the entire show isn't from a specific night. The material is outstanding and at this point in their career (i.e. done), I will gratefully and gladly take anything (especially when it is this great)!
  17. It's the weakest song on Signals but that does not mean it's not a good song. It was recorded in a day according to Geddy, they needed one more song to balance each album side to 4 songs each. The Analog Kid would have been a better lead single but then again, Rush was generally poor in their selection of singles.
  18. Afterimage. What a great track. That middle synth ripping into Alex's solo and then the transition back to the lyrics, epic. Lyrically, this song is a gem too. The simplicity in the words are there but the phrases are so spot on for a tragedy: "I feel the way you would", "This is something that can't be understood", "Try to believe but you know it's no good"
  19. I really like them both but I will say, The Pass, Presto and Available Light are absolute Rush classics in my opinion.
  20. Virtuality live. What a tremendous version from the Test for Echo tour from Toronto at a show that I attended (both nights). Video and sound quality is outstanding as it was going to be released as a DVD but in the end it never was... https://www.youtube....-49K9k-&index=9 Fantastic.
  21. Out of the Cradle. What a great track. That ending with that terrific guitar, rocking bass and Neil killing it...LOVE IT!
  22. Cool vibe to it. I like it. Very appropriate lyrics for a woman to be singing who's a little bit afraid of dying but is a lot more afraid of your lying...
