Jimi Hendrix wasn't nearly as important as many people believe he was.

I dunno if importance or influence is really a matter of opinion

it's not.

for example, i really don't care for elvis, but to say he wasn't hugely influential would be objectively incorrect, not a subjective opinion.

and hendrix's influence, like the beatles, is incalculable. both were ENORMOUSLY influential and extremely important artists.

But it is a matter of opinion to what extent their influence and importance reached. That was my point with what I said about Hendrix, but then the OP tried to counter it with a statement that no person would ever really make.

As long as floyd's come up,

Ahem

I'd Take the Final Cut anyday over most Floyd albums,  And i love me some Floyd.

Mick

wow. the final cut to me is by far the worst floyd album. in fact, it's the only album of theirs that i think is a bad album. too bad too, as the sound quality is phenomenal.

Cool. I dunno know.....should have been labeled Waters.....but i love it to death wub.gif confused13.gif lol

All except Freebird. I really hate that song.

Oh also, Eric Clapton is overrated by about 30 million miles.

I really don't like BBQs. The food, the experience, everything about it is unpleasant for me. I can't put my finger on why exactly.

(shit, this is a MOTS thread)

err -- Alice Cooper is the truest embodiment of what Rock is.

Peter Gabriel Genesis is not good.

Back in Black is AC/DC's masterpiece.

If you stopped buying Rush albums in the mid 80s, and started again in 2007, you didn't really miss a ton.

Don't care, no it isn't and I agree... :)

1. Jeff Beck is overrated and will remain so until he can actually write songs, until that time, Edge is better. Which brings me to...

2. U2 is awesome again after mostly mediocre output post-Pop.

3. Most Prog is unlistenable muso-wankery. Gimme actual songs any time. The beauty of Rush is great musicianship + great songwriting. Not just prog for the sake of prog.

Pink Floyd is a rip off band and overrated.

i have other unpopular opinions, but I am in no mood to be taken to the shed for a flogging today. Hard at work getting my unpopular squatter neighbors evicted ASAP. If I succeed, it might make me the neighborhood heroine. I will be popular.

Speaking of unpopular, am I the only one......

Progressive Rock is often too serious for its own good. Which is why I like bands like Spocks beard. Who infuse a little fun into their music.

Mick

Sometimes I love the pretentious vibe...but yeah, Spock's Beard instantly appealed due to that sense of...fun?
