Everything not progressive after 2000 is pure shit.

What happened in 2000 that made all non-prog bands shit? I don't get it when people say they don't listen to stuff from after a certain year. Makes no sense. Its not like one year there were good bands and suddenly the next year everything turned to shit. confused13.gif

Time and a Word is a fantastic Yes album, as is Tormato.

Agreed. Two of their VERY best. yes.gif

trink39.gif I wouldn't say Tormato is the best thing ever, but better than Going for the One biggrin.gif

I'd probably rate them like this:

1. Tales From Topographic Oceans

2. Close to the Edge

3. Time and a Word

4. Tormato

5. The Yes Album

6. Relayer

7. Going for the One

8. Fragile

Mind you, the gap between some of those is pretty damn small, but I do rate Time and a Word and Tormato obviously VERY highly, higher than most people.

I love Time and A Word and Tormato but I'm surprised to see them so high on your list, above Relayer, The Yes Album, Fragile, and Going For The One.

Here's one I have a lot of people hate:

Dream Theater is the most talented rock band in history yet.

I say this and they're nowhere near a favorite band of mine.

I also agree with that statement, and this is coming from someone who's only been an actual DT fan for 3 months.

Insane, but surprisingly not unpopular round these parts.

Far too many mad progworms breeding. We need a cull.

I don't like any new prog hardly

That's the mentality of most old people though

50 year-old men who cried when Grand Funk Railroad broke up, ya know

I will probably regret this, however here goes....

Eric Clapton is overrated!!

Oops.....

eh.gif

You've received not a single dissenting opinion yet so I'm guessing that opinion isn't all that unpopular in these parts. Not surprising really as he's very much blues based and that type of music by natuire isn't going to be the cup of tea of most people who are prog fans like the folks here. Maybe that's not it, but I suspect it's part of it.

As for E.C., he's a great guitarist and a fine songwriter. However, there are any number of guitar players I like better myself. His stuff with Cream is still my favorite.

I loved Clapton in Cream, and then in Blind Faith, but after that, not much interest...

Bruce Springsteen sucks

Bob Seger sucks

I like Asia better than King Crimson.

I think Iron Maiden is the worlds biggest cult band... not Rush.

I like Drama , 90125 and Fly From Here.

I think Carnival of Souls is a top 5 Kiss album.

I wish Steven Wilson would forget the side projects for awhile and make a new PT album.

I don't like much Pearl Jam or Dave Matthews because I can't understand a f**king thing they are saying.

I think the last live Yes album is very good.

2. Steve Hogarth-era Marillion is better than the Fish-era.
.

yes.gif I will agree with that. Misplaced Childhood was a great album, but I just never could get into very much Fish-era Marillion other than that. Hogarth, on the other hand...

AC/DC is the same shit over and over and over - Probably my LEAST favorite band ever!

The Eagles are overrated...Don Henley solo was much better.

Kiss was best when they had Bruce Kulick and Eric Carr playing for them

I MUCH prefer Van Hagar over Diamond Dave era (hate that guy!)

Asia was great

Lenny Kravitz is a horrible song writer...and a complete douchebag

I HATE THE DOORS! I take it back, THEY are my least favorite band ever, with AC/DC a close second

Not a big Hendrix fan

And...the kicker: I don't really care for The Beatles. I appreciate their contribution to music and I totally respect them for that, I just can't listen to more than one or two of the songs from their entire catalog.

And, on that note...I'm outta here!! bolt.gif

Great to see Kate Bush Fans

1. While I enjoy Radiohead. I don't Feel they deserve their rep.

2. I was never impressed by the Police/Sting

3. I enjoy Phil Collins led Genesis more then Gabriel led. I said it. lol. However Peter's better solo.

4. Pet Sounds blows. First album I ever nodded off to.

5. The Beatles are NOT the best band ever.

That's all I can think of for now biggrin.gif

I know right, just astonishing musicianship eh? A bit pretentious, as people call it, but how can you not be if you're making music that shows of your gifted abilities? biggrin.gif

Not sure I would go with "Most Talented," but they are certainly high up there for me. And, I really haven't cared for much of their music since "Falling Into Infinity." It's been hit and miss since then as far as my tastes are concerned. But, super monster musicians, absolutely no doubt! yes.gif
