Tommy Sawyer Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 If they don't play Different Strings, I will shoot someone.

You know, I wouldn't actually mind Tears either. To be honest, I love that song. It's such a beautiful song. Tears was recorder with a mellotron Which is basically taped strings sound. I think "Tears" if they decide to bring it back, will sound even better than the original recording if they really create a nice string composition for it. I will have to disagree. I find the mellotron to be one of the most emotive instruments ever made. So it's kind of hard to top for me Dude, You're playing sounds that have been recorded on a tape. How can you compare that with the actual thing for emotional value? Its like comparing a Baby grand to the sample of a baby grand on a keyboard.

Tombstone Mountain Posted June 19, 2012 Author Posted June 19, 2012 I wouldn't be surprised if they have a new instrumental on the set list. Kind of hoping they don't play 2112 live this time unless its side b...do something else for a change!

TSOR, Limelight, Tom Sawyer with an orchestra... did anyone else just puke a little? I can take the CA songs, Losing It, Manhattan Project, and even Jacob's Ladder... but it better not be the whole damn show. Actually those are the songs that they won't play with the string section, Well they might play Limelight just to replace the string taurus pedal sound. So, this is fact? Nope, just a very knowledgable speculation. I was right about the string section wasn't I?
Rushman14 Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 (edited) QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Jun 19 2012, 10:55 AM) I'm for it. I like to see bands try new (for them anyhow) things. after seeing multiple S&A and Time Machine shows, I'm ready for them to change it up. Edited June 19, 2012 by Rushman14
third hand grace Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 did not read 3 pages but my first thought after LOSING IT (pun intended) was wonder if PEART will incorporate strings into his DRUM SOLO ? (sorry if someone already posted)

rushgoober Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 When Kiss added strings on that one show (videos available aplenty online), it was REALLY cool, even considering they had someone else dressed as Ace ( ). Seriously though, ANYTHING DIFFERENT LIVE TO MIX IT UP SOME IS GOOD! I usually find Rush live to be playing virtual duplications of their studio material, only a bit rougher. Any time they add a little jamming or ANYTHING different is a good thing. I'm sure this will be a really cool addition.
Alchemical Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Sick. This more or less guarantees Losing It. Would love to see Different Strings too.

Toasted Ghost Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 I wonder how the string section will be presented during the show? Beneath, between, or behind?

The Cat 3 Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 (edited) QUOTE (Mara @ Jun 19 2012, 08:59 AM) Oh great. So that means they'll probably be playing "The Garden", and I will be crying my eyes out in front of everyone. But I'll handle it. You and me both... ...who would guess you'd need 15,000 pieces of Kleenex at a Rush gig? Edited June 19, 2012 by ReGorLaTroy
2112rush Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 I do hope the audience do not get pushed further back to accomodate the string section. It's gonna be my first time near the front and wanna be as close as possible

Cygnus The God Of Balance Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 I would like to hear Xanadu with an orchestra. I think that would be cool. I will be into hearing them with strings.

I feel they should only use strings for songs that have strings already on them. Leave the other songs in tact.
