They had every possible beauty treatment available to them over a period of 12 hours before the contest. Look at the before and after photos. Conclusion - there are no ugly women only poor women. I understand the point of the project -- that it's possible to turn any woman into a beauty -- but how about a makeover that they can do themselves in everyday life? The comparisons are so extreme -- the before pics show the women at their frumpiest, and the after pics look like they've had, well....a 12-hour makeover. Not too realistic. I take it that the women just handed themselves over for the make over or did they each request to look like this after twelve hours?
