I got in the car this morning, put my iPod on shuffle, and "Yours is No Disgrace" came on. Whetting my appetite, I decided to play The Yes Album. This was followed by Fragile and CTTE. I'm on Tales at the moment, and I'd forgotten that it's actually a really good album, asides from most of "The Ancient". (Leaves of Green saves me from skipping that song altogether.) I think I'm going to go all the way through Drama tonight.

Also, I really paid attention to Bruford's drumming when listening to those records he was on... I can only imagine how Relayer would have sounded if he was on it.

As good a rock drummer as Alan White is, Yes really lost something when Bruford left. It was the first time that a band member was replaced by someone who was not better than the person who left.

Bruford was also the first member to leave by his own choosing.

I'm glad he did wink.gif

Wow... I actually never thought of it that way. You're definitely right.

Bruford has even admitted that he wanted to be the first member to leave on his own. He also wanted to play with Robert Fripp so it wasn't like he wasn't keeping his options open.

I like White's playing. He is one of the oddest drummers ever. Did you ever try to nod your head along with his playing? Impossible. When he is on his game he is among the best.

I really can't picture Yes doing this.

I wonder who the other bands will be. Nektar is rumored to be playing as well.

Cruise To The Edge....

Rolls off the tongue easier than Plummeting Towards The Abyss Of Who Gives A f**k, I guess.

Mind you, this cruise idea is getting popular. The Moody Blues are doing it too. I think Saxon did one recently too. But no, not for me.

Okay, now THAT'S embarrassing. facepalm.gif Are they really doing this? Will they be able to stock enough food on board for Chris? tongue.gif

Here is the announcement but I think it is messed up. Tickets going on sale before end of July?! WTF? That date is long past.

We are very excited about our upcoming cruise "On-Sale" announcement, scheduled to happen just before the end of July! As promised, you will be the first to know all the details prior to the public on sale of tickets for the Cruise to the Edge. Here are a couple of hints on what to expect:

Scheduled for March 25-20, 2013 on a luxury cruise ship.

Sailing to Ocho Rios, Jamaica and Grand Cayman.

Non-stop music, activities, events, Q & A sessions and more fun than you can imagine, mingling with the bands, other fans and guest artists to be announced!

Wish we could tell you more, but we have to keep it "hush-hush" until we finally reveal the details to you and the select group that have joined our mailing list. We guarantee it will be worth the wait!!

Thanks for your interest,

The Cruise to the Edge Team

PS...we will be sending updates as they happen... stay tuned!

Legendary progressive rock band, Yes, today announced its upcoming North American tour, kicking off March 2013 in West Wendover, NV and wrapping up May 2013 in Detroit, MI. On this tour, fans can look forward to a totally new and unique Yes experience; the band, for the first time in its storied history, will perform three of its most popular albums in their entireties, The Yes Album, Close to the Edge, and Going for the One. Due to performance time limits in several venues,

Yes will perform two albums, The Yes Album and Close to the Edge, in their entireties.

Performing three of rock’s most renowned albums will see Yes members, Chris Squire, Steve Howe, Alan White, Geoff Downes, and Jon Davison, playing Yes staples that have dramatically influenced rock music over the last four decades. Fans will enjoy long time favorites, including "Yours is No Disgrace," "I’ve Seen All Good People," "Starship Trooper," "Close to the Edge," "And You And I," "Going for the One," "Wondrous Stories," "Awaken," and more, in a completely unique format. Moreover, Yes will perform all tracks in the order they appear on their corresponding studio albums.

"These albums we all easily agreed on—they are complete works in themselves. And several of the songs have rarely been performed live," says Yes guitarist, Steve Howe. "I believe the one song we’ve never performed in concert is ‘A Venture’ from The Yes Album," states Yes co-founder and bassist, Chris Squire. Yes drummer, Alan White goes on to say, "This is a great opportunity to show the growth of Yes throughout different eras, and to once again enjoy the great memories of those times, as well as create brand new ones. We’re looking forward to performing these albums. It’s going to be fun for us, and we think our fans will love it as well."

The tour visits Seattle, WA; San Francisco, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Reno, NV; Aspen, CO; Kansas City, MO; Austin, TX; Clearwater, FL; New York, NY; Detroit, MI; Toronto, Ontario; and a variety of other cities. See the tour page for complete tour itinerary information, including venues and dates.

I might try to make it to the Connecticut show since my first and only Yes show was with Benoit David was mediocre at best. I'd like to see a decent show and I've heard they're much better with Davison now so I'm thinking about going. I figure that we'll probably never see them reunite with Anderson and/or Wakeman so I might as well see them with this lineup. Sucks that Foxwoods Casino has a f***ing time limit so I won't get Going For The One - my favorite Yes album. :|

NOOO!

My only two choices are a 2.5 hour drive on a Sunday night to Louisville or a 21+ only show in Hammond, IN.

I guess my only Yes experience will remain a Benoit David letdown of a show. :(
