Priest!

I see a lot of great bands in there, for which 1982 was not their best year...in my opinion.

Screeeeaming...screaming for vengeance!

Hard to vote against Queen, but I'm afraid Hot Space isn't as great as Screaming For Vengeance! :haz:

Out of these two,

Al Di Meola - Electric Rendezvous

The Dregs - Industry Standard

I chose The Dregs. King Crimson and Kansas earned some consideration, too.

What about Holdsworth's IOU?

It was his first solo album, and for me it doesn't hold up as good as his later ones. If Metal Fatigue had been released that year, then it would have received my vote for sure.

I would put IOU above Beat but that's just me.

Yeah, you have a point there.

Honestly, I would have chosen Signals. Subdivisions, Analog Kid, Chemistry, Digital Man, The Weapon, New World Man, Losing It, Countdown. Yeah, no doubt my favorite pick from 1982.

Although I am a Krimson fan, Beat was not my favorite. I went with The Dregs Industry Standard; has alot of my favs. Holdsworth IOU was also excellent.

Obviously Asia and Maiden were huge releases - and I like both.

but Signals..... no question; that was 82 for me.

I actually went out and bought American Fool by John Cougar and Thriller by MJ. Those are good pop choices though.

Looking back, I would have to say a tie between Screaming for Vengeance by Priest and Number of the Beast by Maiden, for me.

Thriller is pretty good actually, and Steve Lukather plays guitar on three tracks, and of course Eddie Van Halen plays the solo on Beat It.

Thriller is the benchmark for great pop albums. Not that better ones don't exist, but they will always be measured against Thriller.
