Now that is something to look forward to.Being a bassist /guitarist and a No 1 fan of Geddy this book looks like it could be special.Hope he goes into how he got that funky sound out of those clothes dryers.

Yes indeed. From largemouth bass to rock bass (Ged’s fav no doubt) to sea bass Geddy has all the species covered.

By putting out a book of his personal collection ??

 

Entwistle's book came out almost 15 years ago, and there have been many similar books since ..

 

At this point in his life, Geddy doesn't have to emulate anyone, and this book seems like a natural for Geddy considering that Geddy is an avid collector of many things, not just basses

 

Was Entwistle emulating Steve Howe ??

Reasonable to us anyway.

 

Maybe. But never underestimate the power of fans. Besides, Geddy is the one Rush member that seems furthest from retirement and relaxing at home.

Eagle, apologies if I came across that way ..

 

I just see it as a natural fit for Geddy considering he has a pretty good collection, and, he seems to enjoy collecting stuff ..

 

I don't think that at this point in his life, Geddy is attempting to emulate or keep up with any other musicians to the point where it can be seen as "funny"

John Entwistle was the first one to put out a big bass collection book. Geddy has also turned into quite the collector just like John. That is what I was commenting on.

So let me get this right, we are invited to pay good money for a book showing pictures of Geddys relatively new collection of basses, most of which are an assortment of vintage Fender Jazz basses, that have little to do with Rush and were used only for the last tour, with a distinct possibility that some of the instruments that featured heavily in the bands career like the Steinberger and Wals probably being emitted as they've been airbrushed from Rush history it seems? Hmm, think i'll probably save my money and take a browse round the Central London music shops and see vintage guitars for free!

Well the Fender jazz bass has played a big part of Rush history as well as the Ricks.The Wals and Stienbergers were in the 80s and also played a big role.If he doesn't have them or even mentions them I would be somewhat disappointed but hey this Geddy and a chance to read and look at his collection and his views.There was some interesting guitars he dragged out on R40
