  1. Good tunes but his bass lines sucked mostly, very uninspiring!
  2. This post is your best so far. It allows the reader freedom to interpret. To me, the period represents how much can simultaneously happen at one moment. It certainly is. And yet it has more substance and credibility than entries about meeting Neil Peart. :P With one difference: I met Neil. But you didn't! Except for the time I did. :) Didn't happen, end off!

  4. Prove your assertion. I know what happened and have witnesses. I believe you are under a grave misapprehension about who you think you saw but are arrogant enough not to admit that you could be wrong, which you most certainly are. The dates alone quite clearly show that without a doubt it wasn't Neil and I don't understand how anyone who knows the facts would take your story seriously, it just isn't possible! Have a nice life anyway!
  5. Alex must have been very cool to meet in person. Oops, I meant that I met one of Alex's sons (not Alex) at a concert. It was a quick handshake and hello. I don't blame him, but he was clearly annoyed with his friends for introducing him to me. Oh, my bad. Where did you meet Alex then? Aw, heck. I'm not being clear. Let me try again. Alex and I met in 1998 at a book signing at the Borders in Times Square when he asked me to autograph three of my books on behavioral psychology: When Humor Isn't, Failed Irony, and Bedtime for Rick. Wait, so you wrote 3 books and Alex showed up at the promotional tour? Precisely, but in a far more accurate and literal sense, no. Was he as funny in person as he seems to be? I've heard he's the funniest man alive. You must be a close second. That's really kind of you to say. You're welcome. With that, I think this thread might be reaching its end. It had reached its end from the moment you posted it, what a croc of shit! :sigh:
  6. He’s got two sons, Justin and Adrian. Adrian collaborated with his dad for a couple of tunes on Victor I'm thinking Justin, the one involved in the skirmish in Naples. I overheard him a few minutes later tell his friends, "Don't introduce me to those fu**ers." It surprised me that he realized I was a fu**er only by shaking my hand and saying hi. He obviously is a good judge of character!
  7. Does anyone on here other than the poster actually believe this was Neil considering all the facts? C'mon lets just agree you were mistaken and all move on!
  8. Those facts don't change the truth of my story. But they do, can you just cofirm again what year this happened please? I am aware of the apparent date discrepancy. He said he bought his first bike in 1996. I saw him in March 1986. No chance it was another decade because I moved from the area the same year. He was driving a BMW motorcycle. Maybe he rented it or was borrowing one for the trip. It was during a short break on the Power Windows tour. I think it was the first tour they ever intentionally incorporated short breaks. I think Lifeson said it was the first tour that was fun. So you obviously didn't read my earlier post, or ignored it, Neil got his very first motorcycle in December 1993, a present from his wife, he didn't have a motorcycle licence at that time and took a riding course and passed his test in 1994! So you are very mistaken, it wasn't Neil, sorry! Your conclusion rests on several assumptions. And I'm not trying to convince you of anything. Edit: I did read your earlier post. It's from an article I read a couple months ago, possibly from the Cygnus site. I don't understand how you can still believe you actually met Neil on a motorcycle 12 years before he was riding one, maybe he stole it, yeah right!

  10. Did you immediately recognize him? To apply some of what I've learned on this thread: You merely convinced yourself it happened. "It took decades to realize it was Neil." Welcome back. I thought you concluded I was a liar or had delusion disorder. Why would you think that? From your comments and questions. I don't think you're lying about your experience. I do have my doubts that the person you met is the person you think you met. I struggle with the notion of a guy who was very uncomfortable meeting fans would try so hard to out himself to a fan. I also struggle with the timeline with respect to him being on a motorcycle. Again, I'm not saying your account is impossible, but improbable. I get that you believe it as told, but me not believing it doesn't mean I think you're a liar. So yes, maybe deluded on your part, but maybe not. I can't say for sure since I don't (and can't) know the truth of your story. JARG, very well said. And thank you for saying you don't mean I'm a liar. Regarding the entire, "I thought you concluded..." post, the sarcasm failed to come across, which is a risk when posting online; I was hoping to make you laugh with it, but I now see it sounds defensive, and I hope you will forgive it. Anyway, back to the story. I agree about Neil's preference for privacy and heard him discuss it several times in interviews. He felt awkwardly uncomfortable when people gushed over him. I have a couple details that resolve that to a point. In short, he asked how I would respond if I actually met him. I said I'd freak out, get my brother, call some friends, etc. He then said something like "Oh, he would hate that!" and added, if he could introduce me to Neil Peart and I promised to remain calm (or quiet, or something), what would I do. I answered, "Well, I'd want to shake his hand." At that instant, he extended his hand to me. I shook his hand but didn't catch what he was driving at. The interaction probably took longer than it sounds, but I think, looking back, he set the tone before even attempting to reveal his identity. Also, this was in a small town, in a pretty slow gas station, so I imagine he saw little risk of a crowd showing up. While he clearly prefers his privacy, this was a pretty low risk for him. You ignore my question, what year was this, if it's before 1994 then i'm afraid you are mistaken that it was Neil?
  11. It would be a breeze for him, exceptional drummer!

  13. So Neils very first motorcycle, a BMW1100RS was a present from his wife Jackie in December 1993, he didn't pass his test until the following year. He was still cycling around Africa in 1988! Hope this clears things up!
  14. The original poster seems like a good dude who’s played right along with all the jokes and pokes. I’m sure he knows he can tell the full story anytime he likes. I haven’t seen any posts that have told him to shut up or anything like that. The only thing stopping him is a constantly weak phone battery! :P Doubt he can get a word in! Some people do like the sound of their own voice a bit too much!
  15. Captain! There's a sense of humour failure in the aft engine! Ah think she's gonna blow! I have a great sense of humour but c'mon.. :sigh: :eyeroll:
  16. Why not let the guy tell his story, the post has been taken over with the inane babbel of one or two people who should know better, that or lock it!
  17. Larry. Lee produced this album which featured Guthrie Govan and he said he thought GG was great but dissed his band saying they were hacks! Lee is a jazz snob!! So who were these band members or 'hacks' then? The band he used on his Erotic Cakes album, one is his brother. Well he is wrong and makes himself look foolish, Seth Govan and Pete Riley are both outstanding musicians, their playing on the record speaks for itself! Yeah I know but Ritenour is a jazz snob! I saw Ritnour play in London a while back and we left very unimpressed, sloppy playing and mistakes galore, so his opinion means little to me. Also it's a kind of unwritten rule for musicians not to diss each other no matter what they think which again leaves me disappointed in Ritnour for his unproffesionalism!

  20. Welcome Zepphead! I'm Rushhead!!!! Hope to visit Ireland one day! Cheers! Hi there Rushhead! Thanks for the welcome... its only taken me 61 years to get here but i think i am going to enjoy TRF!Hope you can get to this side of the pond someday .... just be prepared for cold temperatures and rain lol! Hahaha! You are very welcome!! Glad you finally made it here! Heck yes!! Some year I will be in your neck of the woods!!! I want to lay down a black rose at the Phil statue in Dublin. I want to see the pub that has that big Rory Gallagher guitar statue in the window. Guinness of course. Visit Gary Moore's grave and hopefully see the new Gary Moore Memorial Statue! Endorsed by Scott Gorham of course! Oh and see where the Titanic was built! I suspect fundraising for the Gary Moore Memorial Statue has stalled due to Covig-19 so it may be some time before we get to see this. Gary Moores grave is apparently very understated bordering on sad! Not a fit tribute to great man!
  21. What exactly would Roger Waters bring to the party, apart from someone to play his bass parts? I think the implication is that Roger would be playing his own bass lines again. Ha Ha, well Dave Gilmour played most of the more interesting bass lines anyway!
  22. Very sad news, he was a great player and the band were highly influential on the UK new wave/punk scene, they stood out though cos they could actually play. Damn the Chinese virus!
  23. There isn't too much other than what you have said. He was diagnosed about three and a half years before he passed in early January, but apparently it was a closely held secret among family and close friends. He had been diagnosed with glioblastoma, which is supposed to be an especially aggressive type of brain cancer and hard to treat. I know Alex said in an interview that he had had a nice visit with Neil a few months earlier and I'm thinking Alex said that Geddy had visited with Neil as well. There was someone on here (Earl maybe?) that had some relationship with Neil's family and heard in 2019 that Neil was dealing with some kind of illness but really, I think very few people knew until it happened. I think a lot more people knew about it than you might think and apparently there were rumours in the industry as well however everyone seemed to keep it to themselves which was fortunate. I was told several years ago by a well known English musician friend who had connections to the band but was at no point told to keep it to myself, the truth is that I simply didn't believe it and promptly forgot about it but he must have told others also. I'm just pleased I didn't put it on here which would have been dreadful!
  24. Geddy didn't play bass on the song. This is a virtual ensemble cover of 'Lean On Me' by Bill Withers. Geddy's part was filmed in this studio, where he was surrounded by some of his basses. That's as bass as you're going to get. Yeah I was joking! :sigh:
