  10. Nothing against Kansas, but they're not one of the greatest bands (whether you classify them as prog-lite or rock) and ELP is considered one of the best Prog bands there ever was. On that alone ELP gets my vote. Nothing against Kansas, who are of course a good band in their own right.

  15. Good Lord. I'm on film. How did that happen? :eh: Oh, come come, don't play games with me my Lord of Chicago. I'm sick of it! I want to do something else. I want to get away from all that. :rage: Yes, sir, if you don't mind leaving a blood-sample, and a piece of skin off the back of the scalp just here, sir... sorry... it's just for identification - you can't be too careful. I'll give you some blood if you'll give me a thing to do some urine in. :martini: Good, well lets have a look at it, shall we? Oh damn, damn, damn, damn... damn this wretched bag... oh the wretched, damn, bloody, little bag. It's the one thing I hate about being a doctor - it's this wretched bloody little bag! I am in a bad temper today, all right. :moon: I'm vexed and ratty. Well, It's one pound for a five minute argument, but only eight pounds for a course of ten. Actually, I only came in here to ask where the manager's office was. Good. Out of the door. Line on the left. One cross each. Next. Crucifixion? What a super woody sort of phrase. :ebert: And I believe you're working on an anagram version of Shakespeare? No. I don't know that bit.

  24. Oh wow, not long ago I had this exact experience listening to MSFL's Face Value mix on decent headphones. This track in particular for the reasons you posted really stood out - very cool use of keys and effects for the era, and the thunderous drum fill, all aged well IMO. It's as if you just read my mind. lol

  26. I'm with treeduck, I wasn't sure. I like earlier Kansas, like Song for America better than Point of Know Return, but I like Point better than that specific ELP album. So, I voted Point. Voted Kansas for the group; although I honestly think of them as about equal. There is a lot of ELP that I really like. I went Kansas for the name also.

  27. Same with me. I had albums from both bands, attended their shows in the 70's and both are great. I prefer ELP.

  28. ELP3 (and, yes, I know that the exponent does not mean "times three" but "itself three times" but it looks cool. I just wanted to get that out there before Goose or some math head assumed I was notationally illiterate!)

  29. Just finished watching all of The Big Bang Theory last week (took us around 3 months, I think?). I had never watched the show before, and now it's one of my all-time favorites. We were moderately bummed to be out of episodes to watch.

  31. I saw that in a cheap "soon to hit DVD" theater out of state visiting my half sister, bro in law, niece and nephew for Thanksgiving. Bruce Almighty Psycho II (Rifftrax commentary) in honor of mother's day. Mike Nelson: "On the left of the tram you'll see the famous Psycho backlot now being used to desecrate the memory of Alfred Hitchock's 1960 classic. And oh look! There's Anthony Perkins shamelessly resurrecting his iconic role in a ham fisted update to a flawless masterpiece that should have remained untouched!"

  32. So, band's are starting to announce tour dates for this summer and fall in the United States. What does everyone think about that? Is it still too soon? I'm guessing precautions will be taken and those who don't have proof of vaccination won't be allowed in. But if even one person from a band or on the touring crews get sick, that could mean the end of the tour. I understand that the band's want to get back on the road. No one in the music world has made any money for over a year now. But we're still not at the end of this yet and I think it's still pretty risky for bands to be touring this year.

  36. Phil all the way...but I'm just one of those people who finds The Eagles super cloying. I don't think In The Air Tonight is a spectacular song at all...and I also think it is a song that has had all the life sucked out of it by being played in endless, mind numbing rotation for 40 or so years. In a way, I think it is a better recording than it is a song - it's so hard to get into the "hearing it again for the first time" mindset, but when I can, I do find it to be a really cool atmospheric tune. The absurdly famous drum fill is almost the least interesting thing about it to me.

  38. One With Everything - Styx Icarus, & Icarus II - Kansas I feel these songs very much show off the style of rock I just love. That perfect mix of Prog rock and Hard rock can be gold, and these 3 songs are good examples of it.

  40. I thought Firefly Lane was excellent. Watched the first season of Patriot from a few years back. It got too slow and I couldn't do the second season. At first I thought it was full of clichés, but years later I suspect many shows used it as a blueprint. I did all three seasons of Yellowstone in one weekend, it was all campy and peppered with weird gore, but the cast was very strong and worked for me.

  43. Van Halen and David Lee Roth - but weirdly, not when they were together. In 1988, DLR had released Just Like Paradise and Van Halen released When It`s Love. I liked the guitars in both - although it was Eddie`s solo (imagine if I`d heard Mean Street!) and DLR`s video that really stuck with me. I realised through the old pre-internet way of looking in record stores and Kerrang magazine that they were once together. Imagine not knowing! And that was that. and I guess you never forget your first love

  44. As I said previously, seeing The Beatles on Ed Sullivan Show was life transforming. As for metal, my cousin discovered the first Sabbath album shortly after its release and was like "you gotta hear this shit!". He was right, I did need to hear it.
