  1. No, no, no, no, no, Marty. Both you and Jennifer turn out fine. It's your kids, Marty. Something gotta be done about your kids! seriously, though...we were promised hoverboards in 2015. So, someone should really get on that.

  3. Geddy has a hard time with the Anarchist live. Something about the bass line and vocals going in different places. Rush is absolutely one of a kind and we will never see it again. Sum of the parts is a great way to put it. Alex—The heart like it or not, is Alex, his guitar is upfront and gives the audience the rhythm, beat, and catchy riffs to reel us in. Alex provides the heart and soul that makes rush stand out as much more than a technical band. Without Alex, they are another dream Neil- the brains Neil would likely be successful in whatever he did a in life. He's to smart and driven not to be successful. But he got very lucky when he found rush. The perfect band for him to develop his drumming and ultimately show off his drumming and have his lyrics heard. Neil would likely be just another drummer in a progressive sounding bad if not for Rush. He is technically brilliant, but I can't say I hear a lot of soul in his playing. Neil himself has always said he is very structured and plans out his drum parts very methodically, like a machine. But like it or not, rush has reached a completely different audience thanks to Neil's sometimes nerdy/sometimes cold/sometimes dispassionate lyrics. But that appeals to. Certain group and has helped the band connect to that group Geddy- a good mix of heart and brains Without a doubt, one of the most talented musicians ever. He provides the diversity and flexibility to allow rush to go in so many directions. And he's a monster musician on stage, enabling the band to pick most anything from their catalog. Not only is geddy considered by most to be the best rock bass guitarist , but he sings and plays keyboard at the same time. I hear his melodic "feel" on songs like roll the bones, kid gloves, leave that thing alone, Jacobs ladder, etc. the thinking mans player Together, with the heart and mind united, they form a single, perfect sphere......

  7. Gals, I just watched a concert from 2008 Sunrise At The Henhouse and Geddy is wearing one of our favorite shirts. Remember the black one with the tiny buttons that he so graciously left opened? I wonder if he still has that shirt. If so, I wish he would send it to me. I'd look lovely in it.

  8. Happy Birthday to my favorite Doctor!!! I'd offer to jump out of a huge cake naked but you'd send a goat after me to lick off the frosting and I'm just not into that. Here's a Garden cake instead. Get it? :laughing guy: http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/5f/d5/1d/5fd51d3d6d0837f3dcb4b80ebd8b1674.jpg

  16. Nothing personal, but your taste buds are dead. Maybe, but my wallet is relatively healthy and I am satisfied with the beers I like. Oh and I prefer a can any day over a bottle. So, no silly light gets in mine. This is a prime example of a beer snob. If I don't like what they like, there is something wrong with me? Nothing wrong with you -- and I am most definitely a beer snob. People drink beer for different reasons. I drink beer strictly for the taste, and I like different styles depending on the mood I'm in, or, if I'm having a beer with a meal, what kind of food I'm having. See? Totally f**king snobby. Other people just want "a beer," dammit, either because they're thirsty and beer is their thirst-quencher of choice, or they want to consume mass quantities to get a buzz on and want an uncomplicated beer that goes down easy. That you belong to the latter group doesn't mean there's something wrong with you. Just means you like shit beer. :P For some reason I hear you saying this in a strong English accent wearing a skirt.

  17. Vegetarians don't eat dead animals (or things like gelatin made from dead animals) but will eat eggs and milk products. Vegans don't eat any animal products at all, and often don't wear leather or wool either. And they both have bowel movements that could fell a forest of sequoias. We've got one of each currently in the office and you do. Not. Follow them into the bathroom after lunch. The same applied to the three other we've had come and go in the 7 years I've worked here. (Another thing I've noticed - you can leave 10 cans of Febreze in each stall and the worst offenders never realize it's meant for them). I realize I'm generalizing based on a sample of five, but what is up with that? Is it all the beans? During my own 2 years in the vegetarian world I probably wasn't the best about maintaining a balanced diet (I was in college - nobody eats balanced meals in college) but I don't remember my roommates ever complaining about me stinking up the shared bathroom.

  22. Vegetarians don't eat dead animals (or things like gelatin made from dead animals) but will eat eggs and milk products. Vegans don't eat any animal products at all, and often don't wear leather or wool either. I admire the folks who have such discipline. I pay pretty close attention to what I eat but this (vegan anyway) seems like lots of work to me...... :) It's not work if that's how you're supposed to eat for whatever reason. What I see as work is straying from my diet guidelines and not being sure if I'm going to have a reaction to something or feel ill afterwards. After years of torture and hating food and eating I've finally found a food plan that works for me. It's very much vegan in design but like I said I do eat the odd piece of grassfed meat. I'm slowly coming to terms that I may have to phase that out soon too. Raw vegan food has been so healing to me.

  28. Rush will always be my number one. I'm not going to drop them for some other band I listen to for a while, since I always come back to Rush. No other band has made me feel the way Rush has and still does, so they'll always be at the top. All that said, I don't even know who I'd put second. Artist-wise, I'd probably say Tom Waits. But I don't know about bands...

  33. 5.16.2014 Toronto Can. Great White North Newspaper: Toronto Edition. World publication: DISTO-AP News Wire Interview: Alex Lifeson, Neil Peart, Geddy Lee: Summer vacation and 2015 preview Interviewer: Beatonto Seamaso. BS: So Guys, The summer is here, Canada is still covered in snow...do any of you have any plans? AL: Yep! AL: Heading down to the island and do some scuba dive man GL: Who knows NP: Summer time is relative to what I would like to do, travel, sample some wine, and ride the bike. AL: Wine?...that sounds tasty. NP: No Alex you’re not invited....this is my summer and I’m not toting your ass around on the back of my bike, it’s embarrassing –especially when you go to sleep and fall off...actually its funny! AL: Sorry. BS: So............guys any plans for a new disc or a tour in 2015? GL: Why? AL: Ged, we can’t rest on our past. We are only as good as our last album...which I think kicked ass! GL: Alex, pour another glass of wine...and refill mine please. You’re right, but I’m not thinking of a new album or even a tour for 2015. NP: Hey Alex, where’s your map book for northern Ontario and Vancouver? BS: Planning a new adventure on your bike Neil? NP: Hell yes, I’v got to get out of here! AL: Me too. GL: Great idea Alex. Me? I’m enjoying a good start to the baseball season...and hockey is getting good with the Canadians facing off against the Rangers this weekend. NP: Yeah, I gotta get the hell out of dodge. AL: Thanks Neil thats a great title to a new song. NP: You know Ged we could lay down some tracks for that children’s album we’ve talked about. GL: True that home dog! NP: Give me a shout when you want to lay down the back bone and we’ll pound it out. -get a hold of me before the 29th...after that I’m hitting the road! AL: A kid’s album is a fantastic idea! You could call it Permanent Stains! It can deal with potty training. NP: Oh that’s great! We can reach a new and younger audience!!! GL: I love it! I can hear the tunes now, Jacobs’ bottom, Free Pea, The Spirit of Diapers, Entre’ Poo....I love it!!!! NP: We could do a double disc set and make one a concept album. AL: Yep, that will work!!! NP: I can design a coloring book to go with it...this is some great brain storming guys! AL: Yes it is. BS: So what about a new tour for 2015 AL: We’ll have to see; right now we have our hands full with a new album idea. GL: Come back in Sept and we’ll talk a tour....and a potty break...LOL!

  39. Foo Fighters are not one of my favourite studio bands at all. But I saw them live in 2011 and it was to this day the single greatest concert of my entire life! Magic, no band has come close, ever (except for maybe Muse).

  40. No, I'm another female that doesn't need naked heroes.... Geddy said in Beyond the Lighted Stage something like 'we desparately wanted to wear jeans and a t-shirt'. I say they should wear what makes them comfortable and allows them to keep playing the way they do....

  41. "Art as expression Not as market campaign Will still capture our imaginations" -Natural Science "Throw off those chains of reason And your prison disappears" Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres "Nowhere is the dreamer Or the misfit so alone" -Subdivisions (Almost every line in this song could've been quoted) "Quiet in conscience, calm in their right Confident their ways are best." -Witch Hunt "Thank your stars you're not that way Turn your back and walk away" -Wish Them Well There are many, many more. These were the top five that had an impact on me, they aren't in any particular order.

  43. I wish you hadn't said that. I'm in a lot of trouble. The only thing I can hope for is that I go before my mind completely does. I didn't mean to touch a sensitive button. I was just being a goofball. Sorry... :( No worries. I should have used an appropriate emoticon for my post. Serious though, my memory is going - seems to pick and choose what it remembers in a strange way. Can be scary at times for someone like myself who used to be able to completely rely on my memory.
