  1. Wider then mine! I can't sing as low nor as high as he can. :( The neighbours love my voice though, they bang on the wall quite enthusiastically when I practice.

  2. So I broke out Snakes and Arrows for the first time in quite a while. The album, as a whole, left me with the same impression I had when I last listened to it. Meh. Somewhat uninspired and nowhere near up to Rush standards. Light Rock. But Far Cry is truly one of Rush's greatest. It's one of those songs that comes along every so often that just works on so many levels. I remember from the documentary it was written in one "very good day". That backs up what I have always felt about the band....that they are so much better when they keep it simple and spontaneous....just an opinion. Anyway, Far Cry is outstanding. That's where I' m going with this.

  4. Children are so much wiser than grown-ups..... :) I don't worry over him very much these days. Not like before. He's shown me what a tough little guy he is! And he especially likes the ladies. He always has. He has a pick-up line too. "My favorite color is pink." It isn't but that's his equivalent to, "What's your sign" or, "Come here often?" The girls fall for it every single time.

  6. Whenever that very last show is played (my guess is fairly soon, within two – three years) I say they should go out with guns a’blazin’… Toronto IS the best city for the show, and the Rogers Centre (where the Blue Jays play baseball) should be the venue. The place holds about 60,000 and yes, I know that Rush wouldn’t normally play there. They’d normally play the ACC (hockey arena, 14,000) or the Molson Amphitheatre (outdoor venue, 16,000.) But, I think that since it would be the very last show, people would fly in from all over the planet and they’d fill that place with ease. Probably need 2 or 3 shows. And, a concert video would be a no-brainer. So, whenever the boys finally decide to pack it in, I think they owe to their hometown go out where they first came in…

  10. In 1974 his vocal range was "air raid siren". Absolutely no limit. Are you looking for notes? I think he goes to a G above high C on Hemispheres but that was a semi-tone too high (says Ray Daniels). I guess F# above high C? I think that would be a F# -7 (meaning the 7th octave on a piano)

  11. I feel bad for you, Ganst’ and any other women out there who go through crap like this. All these birth control hassles just so your men have a place to park their truck at the end of the day… All I know is that women got ripped off in the “girl vs boy” department. Periods, pills, giving birth (shit, that must hurt!), weight gain, hormone stuff, tampons (and occasionally losing the string), maxipads, nursing babies, cleaning up baby puke, having to wear those great big “period panties.” All we men have to do is walk around with our man-gear ready for action… And, it’s so much easier for us men to take a pee in the bush. Hang in there…

  23. Your Not wrong GM . :hi: The Music paper it`s from the N.M.E. was a bit of a leading Punk and new wave paper and not really into real music like Rush and other Dinosaur bands at that time . It`s seems to be trying to clever about how clever Rush songs are . Is Concieted the word I think they were looking for about Rush . Where are those Punk bands today . Ans . Nowhere .

  24. I don't understand the review, but it seems quite insulting. Do Geddy's vocals sound worse if you like the content of the lyrics? Why is Peart's drum solo good once and bad at another time? Or is this just a play on the love 'em or hate 'em theme? I honestly don't understand the real point and how the A and B play out in the writer's mind.

  29. The Yukon Blade Grinder Europe Special Late Night Edition This just in: Rushgoober resurfaces!!!!! It took us 58 pages, an unnumbered number of weeks, sleepless nights, The Pope, superheroes, crazy motel managers, nervous breakdowns, countless interviews, but now we know. People going home can stop holding their breath and lay out a sigh of relief: Rushgoober has been found. More exactly, he has been found in a new video that has been making the rounds lately and is on the verge of becoming viral. We can only assume that TRF favourite Vapor Troll's prolonged abscence was due to his commitment to shooting this video. We were right all along in believing in Hobbit Metal, since it's truly Hobbit Metal that brings the Know-it-all of all Prog Things back to us. Without further ado...

  31. My son with autism has been stranded at his school since yesterday. His teacher tried to get him home but the bus couldn't make it and had to bring him back to school - a huge meltdown ensued and she had already started home but came back to the school and spent the night there with him. Kids all over central Alabama spent the night at school. I tried to get home about 30 minutes after it started to snow, spent 3 plus hours freezing in my car, then was forced to come back to work. I "slept" on the floor of an office and have no idea when I can get home to my children or if Stephen can even get home today. There are tons of employees here in the same boat. It has been a nightmare. Northern folks may think we are wimps but we just aren't prepared for this stuff in the Deep South. No, we up north who know better know the freaky weather you guys can have down there, but it sounds like this kind of ice storm is a rarity. How far away is the nearest help as far as sand trucks or other road equipment? Hard to believe your roads aren't being taken care of at this point. Keep us posted on your son's status. His teacher going back to be with him is a godsend.

  34. Winds are quiet and there's been little to no buildup on power lines, so as of now there are no reported outages. Several school systems got caught flat-footed and there are some kids spending the night in school.

  36. That was during the time when CDs were becoming very popular. In the tour book for HYF, Neil mentions that they added 2 songs for that album since people "rarely bought albums or cassettes anymore" and the CD format allowed for more time. Power Windows was probably released on "day one" but I don't think most people had a CD player yet.... Clem
