Number one song when you’re 14 defines your life?

Recommended Posts

The best part of this is that I'm 14 and currently the top song on the Hot 100 is Nice For What by Drake. Genuinely don't care for Drake's music whatsoever.

Holy Shit!

I can't believe you picked the age of 14 for your thread. Amazing. Thread Of The Year.

14....

Well I saw The Who and The Clash in Oakland in 1982 when I was 14.

Changed my life.

However, I was a metal maniac even then.

The number one song that changed and defined my life is so simple.

Again, I'm blown away by the random choice of going with age 14.

I remember listening to my favorite rock and roll and hard rock station in the summer of 1982. KVHS 90.5 FM

I was kicking back in my room cranking my stereo and all of the sudden I heard an old sounding crackling lp playing....... "Heidi de Hei Do....."

My life changed that afternoon.

"FAST AS A SHARK!!!!"

Seeing ACCEPT in September twice. Front Row. Both shows are the end of their world tour in Los Angeles areas.

CAN'T WAIT!

ACCEPT FOREVER!

I think you misunderstood.

YOUR song would be "Centerfold" by J.Geils. (The #1 song when you turned 14 on February 15, 1982)

Mine would be Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach".

Jesus, I did misunderstand. Didn't think it was a number one song on my birthday. Thought it was any song that I fell in love with when I was 14.

I'll stick with "Fast As A Shark."

UK chart: Give A Little Love - Bay City Rollers.

I guess it’s right. I devote my life here to giving as little love as possible.

:tempted:

And long may that continue!

So I must be an idiot because all I can pull up is the UK chart by date. But one thing I did notice while playing around is the song from Tears for Fears with a different title.

US version: Everybody wants to rule the world

UK version: Everybody wants to run the world (played the clip and was stunned)

I, for a second, thought I was singing it wrong for all these decades...

Peaches and Herb's Reunited. So significant to me that I had to look it up in order to recognize it. wish I hadn't. If I'd been born a month earlier it would have been Blondie's Heart of Glass. That's a song I could have got behind. Don't know what it would have said about my life though. I guess Reunited is better relationship-wise. So acc to this theory, my life is defined by love-y relationships but sappy music. I think I'd take the good music and take my chances with the relationships.

"Down Under" from Men at Work is my age 14 song.

"It's A mistake" would have been more fitting...

Ain't No Mountain High Enough - Diana Ross

(I'm not complaining, damned good song with killer vocals)
