Let's cut Neil some WELL DESERVED slack!

I don't give a shit anymore. R40 was a killer set, CA's a good album to go out on. geddy and alex can start another band and let peart write highly detailed descriptions of tumbleweeds.

I am a young fan, I went to 4 shows and not 400 like some of you nuts, but I don't wanna see a band as good as rush turn into the rolling chodes or def dildo

Too late!

oh, come on. rush predominantly played deep cuts their whole career, as well as always playing new stuff that nobody wanted to hear. they never hit the casinos, never did a nostalgia tour - even time machine and r40 had plenty of post-81 material to piss off the old guard fans. I understand you've viewed the last ten or fifteen years of rush as being on the same level as triumph playing the county fair or grand funk playing your birthday party, but I really think rush have gone out on a good note.

If Neil wants to retire, he should just open his mouth and say it. Don't drag the fans along, don't drag Geddy and Alex along, just either confirm or deny you're done with Rush. I'd have a LOT more respect for him if he would just be honest with himself and say it.

QUOTED. FOR. TRUTH.

That being said, if he or any of them announce retirement that closes the door to ever coming back, unless they want to be thought of with all the other bands or performers who "retired" but then returned to make even more money off the fans with more money than sense.

Maybe Neil doesn't feel he owes the fans an explanation, any more than an insurance guy owes his clients an explanation when he turns 63 and decides it's time to go.

Is an insurance guy in the limelight?

Back in '90 for the Sound & Vision tour, Bowie proclaimed it was "unequivocally the last time" he was going to perform those older songs of his. A farewell tour of THOSE songs. At the time, he was in the middle of being in his new (and soon to be short-lived) band Tin Machine. But through the 90s he took some chances and some say he was even more successful compared to his earlier days. Not that it's an ultimate measure of success, but he did have more Grammy nominations post mid-90s compared to all that time before. However, it would NOT be the last time he'd perform those older songs as he previously said. Has Bowie acquired a bad reputation for going back on something he said? If so, I don't see it.

I support Neil's decision to not tour anymore if he has made such a decision. I support any decision to not need to inform me of it. I support my decision to not cut him any slack if I decide not to.

who cares? why is Neil more obligated to give everybody a definitive answer on his retirement just because he's more visible?

He's worked hard enough for a super long time.

He's influenced countless musicians (not just drummers I assure you!)

He came back from those tragedies and didn't have to.

Give the guy a break! He's earned the right to spend time with his family or go boating or parasailing or whatever the hell he wants.

Remember, the Hemispheres tour alone was what- 170 shows? Imagine playing this set 170 times.

This would've KILLED Peter Criss!!*

Is that in order? They closed the concert with a drum solo?

I don't need,

To give him any slack. He can do what ever he wants to. It's that simple.

You know if you are going to go Full Shatner your post should look more like this...

"I don't need,

To give him, any,

slack. He can do,

what ever he wants, to.

It's that, simple."

He,

Can,

Do,

What,

Ever,

He,

Wants.

Yes, wasn't ending with drum solo standard for them in the 70s? On ATWAS, isn't the solo at the end in a medley?

Given their busy schedule the last five years, to retire with three months notice and zero international shows, given the support and loyalty received from the fans over 41 years, its extremely abrupt by Neil. Of course he has the right to retire, but to go out this abruptly is bizarre.

To compound matters, for him to not discuss honestly and publicly, but, to have a secret club (consisting of Jack Black and Mr Bard) that get the "real" word from Neil, that he is done, and even with this info getting leaked, he STILL is not announcing retirement. A full head slap to Rush fans. Bizarre.

Best case scenario, Neil comes out and explains that Given his tendonitis, it's best for him to hang it up, thus freeing up G&A to record new material and play a few shows as The Leefson All Star Band, performing an evening of Rush tunes and solo/site project material.

No amount of fam pissy pants whining can force the band to know what's to come if they simply don't know. No amount of younger fans wanting to see the band makes it the bands fault if you arrived after the party ends. Do you hear people who like Mozart complain that he died before they were born? Get over yourselves. The band is made of humans, not immortal beings. They have their limits and limitations like the rest of us. One day they'll definitely be over. Too early to say if that's now or later.

His right to exercise his freewill does not preclude the fact it was done in an abrupt manner, to a very supportive, patient and loyal fan base.

They announced the tour in January and it ended August 1st. Not abrupt. Most people give 2 weeks notice when they retire!

Wasting 2112 here, oh well. Need to set record straight. Tour announced late January, began early May, three months, easy math.

Given work and summer vacation schedules mostly set when they announced final full tour, it was actually much less than three months notice since tix were selling out in Feb, weeks after tour announced. This made travel decisions and coordination with friends virtually impossible.

Look at how Sabbath is doing it, much much much more notice, adding additional legs, and giving fans time to react and decide travel plans for such significant and life alterning decision. Neil, on the other hand, happy to show he is exercising his free will.

Can't think of another band on their level bowing out so abruptly , outside of serious illness or death. Rush fans, thanks for your decades of support and loyalty. Have a nice life, signed your fave drummer.

I agree. I would love to see them live at least one more time but if they want to stop touring, they have every right to. They have been pretty generous and kind to the fans for touring all those years!

Neil has worked very hard to become one of the best rock drummers out there. 40 years or so on the road... he went through some personal crap that many people could not have made it through... He has a wife and a young daughter (I am so happy that he found a "second chance" at a great family life.) If he doesn't want to tour anymore, I can understand why. Pretty obvious, really.

Don't forget... the man is 62. Anyone here ever thought about retiring? I hear some pretty insensitive things about Neil and it bugs the sh** outta me. We should all be thankful that we ever had the chance to hear and see him play, read his lyrics and books. The man is getting some bad arrows slung in his direction and it’s not fair. Stop being so selfish.

I hope he does retire.

I hope Neil retires too.

I'm just a broken record on here.

The man is hurting.

More importantly he has a beautiful daughter and an awesome wife.

The man has been through HELL as you ALL KNOW!

Now he wants to be a DAD AND A HUSBAND!

This is not "Distant Early Warning" Rocket Science!

Wake up!

RUSH IS OVER!!!!

For now.

If you whiners want to spend the money and meet in a three night Toronto gig only then let's meet up and party some year!

If you don't then SHUT THE FUKK UP!

"MOVE ON!"

Signed,

Paul Stanley

I am forever grateful for the amazing music that Neil brought to us - for A Farewell To Kings alone, he has earned a place in my personal Hall Of Favorites .

But in my book, that doesn't mean RUSH cannot continue with another drummer

If they were to find the right person - full of fire and youthful exuberance - I would be ecstatic

As Earl would say

THE MORE THINGS CHANGE, THE MORE THEY STAY THE SAME

Well stated amigo! Excellent cover!

This cover is better than anything on "FEEDBACK."

I would rather listen to NICKELBACK.

That was the hardest sentence I've ever had to type on here since I joined. LOL!

So now it's really true.

I've ignored "Feedback" for ten years since I think it's so useless.

"Vapor Trails" and "Feedback" blow F-16 jet fuel all over these two stinkers.
