For someone so involved in progarchives, I'm astounded how your top 20 list is such straight-ahead rock. Nothing wrong with that of course - just surprising...

I deliberately didn't pick any Prog bands.

So it's not a true list? :(

The requirement was for "rock/metal" and this is my "rock/metal" list.

Whatever. It's a given all the damn subgenres are included.

I'm going to limit myself to one album per group, because, oddly enough, that seems to make it easier for me. Plus, more variety...so that it doesn't end up with just being a list of the same 3 or 4 bands. I'm also going to stick to groups, with no solo artists, like Steevo mentioned in the first post...so here goes...in no particular order:

Rush - Hemispheres

Uriah Heep - Demons and Wizards

Iron Maiden - Powerslave

Yes - Close to the Edge

Kansas - Song for America

Led Zeppelin - IV

Heart - Little Queen

Wishbone Ash - Argus

Queen - Sheer Heart Attack

Jethro Tull - Minstrel in the Gallery

Genesis - Foxtrot

Blue Oyster Cult - Agents of Fortune

Mountain - Climbing!

Scorpions - In Trance

Rainbow - Long Live Rock 'n' Roll

Pink Floyd - Animals

Saxon - Strong Arm of the Law

Thin Lizzy - Fighting

UFO - Force It

Groundhogs - Split

It's funny that I picked a Queen album with the word Heart in the title, and a Heart album with the word Queen in the title...coincidence?
