Though I 100% understand the thinking in this argument, some of it is a tad baseless. I own an H&K Triamp (exactly like the ones he used on RIO-R30) and it is, hands-down, the greatest sounding amp I've ever played or owned. Having said that, the user does have to fine tune their tones and settings when adding effects and pedals to their Triamp, regardless if they're in the FX loop or not. What makes Alex's tone a little wonky on the RIO and R30 shows, as well as every tour since the hiatus are all the in between effects in his rig. He has multiple programs of delay and phaser running through his rig, even having his wah pedal be nothing more than a controller for his rackamount wah, so the signal gets very dilluted. On top of this, he's using wireless. While wireless technology has come a very long way since the 80's, it still becomes a hinderence when you have that many effects going through it and further dilluting the signal. With his new Lerxrst (read: Marshall) amps, he's improved on the only basis that the Lerxst is strictly the distorted amp, whereas he used the Triamps for all distorted, clean and effects. In summation, it isn't so much the H&K and the PRS that muddied up the tone, it was everything in between and the way it's been set up. Alex has even said as much that Scott Appleton, his tech, wants him to slim his setup down but it's difficult for him because he's a dinosaur, he's done it that way for so long and is sort of set in his ways. Only time will tell, but that's the big reason his sound is the way that it is. I personally think his best sound was the Time Machine Tour, Geddy's tone has become phenomenal with the Orange amps. The TFE/VT and TM/CWA DW kits are by far Neil's best sounding as far as DW is concerned. Very surprising about the way they've been mixed on the last two live albums. It seems live drum mixing and recording is becoming a lost art with a lot of these artists turning to the MIDI drums for when they record.

You have the wrong thread, they both belong in the underrated. Navarro UP TO Ritual is insanely underrated. Flea can tend to overshadow John Fru sometimes as well. I can give you Dave Navarro but I don't get the hype with John. He's not bad by any means what so ever, I just was never impressed by his playing. His songwriting however is, in fact, amazing

I list Joe Perry simply because I live in an area and was in a band that worships Joe Perry. When I bring up the fact that Brad Whitford is underrated, they say, "Well what has Brad Whitford done?" Well he wrote and solo'd on arguably the best Aerosmith song, "Last Child," among others. So from where I come from Joe Perry is most definitely overrated. I get real tired of hearing about him.

I will definitely say that "Clockwork Angels" has been solidified as a bona fide Rush classic and epic and "The Anarchist" was absolutely fierce and venomous live

I thought it was a very, very good show. I wasn't fond of all the 80's material but I'm not complaining. I could've done without "Territories", "Bravado" and "Force Ten" but they played fantastic. Neil did drop a couple sticks, which was great, actually. Turns out he is human, lol. Alex had some screwups like hitting some very wrong chords in "Seven Cities Of Gold". Geddy was fantastic if maybe some minor struggling vocally on "Grand Designs" but overall a fantastic effort by the boys and it's very clear they have a lot left in them.

Got the tab book. For the most part it's dead on with some bum notes in "Carnies" and some off time signature stuff in "Clockwork Angels" but nothing too major that makes this book unreadable. Edit: No, it does not have the piano part in "The Garden" but has the guitar part underneath it.

My only problem is it seems Caravan through Carnies is one story of Hero vs Anarchist and then from Halo Effect onward it goes on a completely different tangent. So no, I don't think the Watchmaker has any impact on the story.

Nick couldn't reproduce that train wreck if he tried. I just cringed when I saw it! COS and VT together. Thats just awful! To me, that's the best thing they could say, other than saying it's like AFTK or Hemispheres. But hey, every Rush fan is different Don't get me wrong I like VT, There are really good compositions on that album and I'm sure if someone like NIck, Terry or Peter would remix it, it would sound 100% better. I just think that's its the worst mixed RUSH album ever. (Not the Songs) just the mix! I really can't stand it! After listening to the mix on S&A and now the first two off Clockwork I am pretty stocked about this album. The last thing I expected was have someone compare it to VT! Fair point. I'm not a huge fan of S&A but any fan is just reaching for straws if they hate the production.
