Czarcasm
Gotta give this one a 10. It's one of the few Rush albums I listen to the whole way through, and I adore every song. Probably has one of the best openers and best closing songs of all Rush albums. Love it.
driventotheedge
9. Excellent album and this tour was the first time I saw the band live so that bumps it up from an 8.5.
Rush Cocky
Had to give this one an 8. Even though I don't Big Money or Emotion Detector, the rest of this album is fantastic.
losingit2k
I voted 8 (Basically because of the keyboards on Emotional Detector) That songs could have been so much better if they just took off the cheezy keyboard part during the chorus! The Great -Marathon -The Big Money -Territories -Middletown Dreams -Manhattan Project The Good -Mystic Rhythms -Grand Designs The OK -Emotion Detector
That One Guy
Lets see: I haaate Grand Designs and Emotion Detector. But the rest of the songs rock to me. Marathon was a high point of the Time Machine shows for me. I really like Territories and would love to see it live. Generally, lately I'm feeling the next tour needs more '82-89 material. Drakkhim
I jam Power Windows A LOT. And now, even more after I found the demos. I will defend synth-era Rush to my grave!
metaldad
7. All the synth makes it a lower number for me
savagegrace26
8 All songs are good or great but the overall sound gets a little obnoxious at times.
treeduck
I've always liked this album, it's powerful and the most guitar heavy of the synth era, and more importantly it has good songs all the way through with no duds... The only knock on it is it's not my favourite type of RUSH album, obviously I prefer the earlier more metallic albums, overall though I'd say it's a strong 8... GrandDesigner
My favorite Rush album! The Godly Grand Designs Marathon Emotion Detector The Great The Big Money Middletown Dreams Mystic Rhythms The Good Manhattan Project Territories (great lyric though) There are no bad moments on this album. Even my 2 least favorite (Territories and MP) are excellent songs. The last truly brilliant Rush album from start to finish IMO
micgtr71
QUOTE (Union 5-3992 @ Apr 15 2012, 07:10 PM) QUOTE (micgtr71 @ Apr 15 2012, 08:01 PM) Great album! I give it an 8 only for Manhattan Project (which I always found to be just an OK song) and Marathon (which was played to death on radio for this release and Show of Hands version). Good songs, but not my favorites. Territories is a phenomenal song as is Middletown Dreams. Ditto Emotion Detector. Grand Designs was my favorite track when the album came out. I've always liked Big Money and Mystic Rhythms. You give it an 8, yet there are 0 votes for 8. For some reason, it didn't register. Fixed it.... drbirdsong
8 The keyboards are a bit dated, but the whole thing is just so epic. When I listen to it my mind instantly goes back to 1985. I think it was the last time for a while that Rush put out such a perfect and cohesive statement. There are no wasted notes or filler anywhere. I would love to hear some modern and rockier takes on some of those songs on the next tour.
ILSnwdog
I gave it a 9. Love this album! The Great -Marathon -Mystic Rhythms -Territories -Manhattan Project -The Big Money -Grand Designs The OK -Emotion Detector -Middletown Dreams
EmotionDetector
QUOTE (presto123 @ Apr 15 2012, 10:43 PM) QUOTE (ALifeson85 @ Apr 15 2012, 09:27 PM) Gave it a solid 8. The Good The Big Money Grand Designs Marathon Middletown Dreams Mystic Rhythms The OK Manhattan Project Emotion Detector The Not So Good Territories (It just never clicked with me. The live version on A Show Of Hands is OK though - but I usually skip this one while listening to Power Windows) Never in my life would I have thought I would ever hear somebody call Territories a not so good song. I think it's one of the strongest tracks on PoW. The fadeout at the end is just goosebump city with that awesome bass line and drum pattern and atmospheric keys. Agreed. I think it's my favourite track or at least Top 2 on PoW.
DistantEarlyRushFan
It's been growing on me, but the subject matter is a little contrived sometimes and the synths kill some of their momentum. The Great -Marathon -Mystic Rhythms -Territories -Middletown Dreams The OK -Grand Designs -Emotion Detector -Manhattan Project -The Big Money 6 for now
Checkster2112
7 or 8. Great album, but pushed the synths as far as I could handle them. Wonderful album lyrically.
Silas Lang
The first 5 tracks are absolutely top notch and Mystic Rhythms a great moody closer. Lyrically excellent in both subject matter and execution. I think GUP is better but it's difficult not to give this a 10.
The Big Money
9/10 It's almost perfect except for Manhatten Project. It's the only song on the album that I don't like.
Captain Avatar
I gave Power Windows an 8. Many awesome songs, but it's not up to the level of PW, Hemispheres, or Moving Pictures.
CrossedSignals
QUOTE (The Big Money @ Apr 19 2012, 12:54 AM) 9/10 It's almost perfect except for Manhatten Project. It's the only song on the album that I don't like. It's probably my least favorite on the album. Some days I love it, and others it's just OK. SchemingDemon
I gave it a 10. It's one of the first albums I really loved, and all the songs have only gotten better with time for me. I always had mixed feelings about Mystic Rhythms, but that track finally grew on me. I had this CD blaring in my car on the way to my final exam today Oh, and blasting Marathon at the gym PUMPS YOU UP!
