  1. SOOOOO glad to see Rush is cleaning up here. If we lost to Journey I would have to reconsider some things in my life.
  2. This record needs vapor trails treatment IMO. If they have access to the master tapes they should at least try to thicken it up a little. The original is so tinny and quiet that I have to crank up my volume by half just to properly hear the damn thing!
  3. The remixed version is soooooo much better if you ask me. I would have never enjoyed songs like Secret Touch, Nocturne, Sweet Miracle and Freeze without it. Very glad it was released cause Clockwork Angels let me down.
  4. Fishstick Rhythms Capture my cods A very thin Filet We are the freaks The attendants of your sinks
  5. You mean like how AFtK and Hemispheres are my trash but they're half of this forums treasure?
  6. so then i guess it takes one to know one huh "TAKES ONE TO KNOW ONE HUHUEHUEHUEHUE" My, what a mature sounding post. Are you even trying or do you want to sound like an 11 year old boy at recess? Your opinion on this matter has been [ ] Validated [X] discarded But no that was bad. Seriously, improve your arguing skills or go back to r/atheism. I know you are but what am I? At least I dont shape my world view on a 2000 year old myth I'm not religious. In fact I've been an atheist my entire life. However I don't hold what I believe over others like you. You come off sounding like an arrogant prick who has nothing better to do than bash religion on a band's message board. If you care about the opinions and beliefs of virtual strangers so much maybe you should take a good long look in the mirror, bub because what you're doing is pathetic. If I were a mod you'd be banned for shit posting and religious intolerance. And I'm on your side of the religion vs atheism debate. Imagine what those who aren't think about you and your existence.

  8. That...that was very thorough. Thanks for the explanation, I think I understand better now. It's like another poster here said. It's more than just appearance but a combination of other traits as well.
  9. I never said anything similar to that. Tom Sawyer and other hits are played so often I was wondering if they needed to be played when the majority of people at Rush concerts are usually die hard fans. you didn't say it? I've got the proof right here I'm honestly confused. I never said the words Dog Years or La VIlla in this thread. I said that a couple of GOOD songs from test for echo could stand to be revived along with unplayed tracks from the rest of their career. I didn't mention La Villa when I brought up over played songs, that was you, champ. no I saw it Then find it and deliver it to me I literally have all day. Unless you're a liar who's just trying to start shit. I've got the evidence right here Find me a direct quote where I say that Dog Years should be played over La Villa in concert. I'm genuinely curious what your angle is here, bub.

I've got the evidence right here According to what you quoted above the person who compared Dog Years to La Villa first is you, with me just reiterating what you said. I can't tell if you're a troll or just retarded, but judging by the number of posts you've made I'm gonna wager you're the latter. But seriously, what are you doing?

  12. I like it also man. it makes me think of hiking through the Canadian Shield near Georgian bay. Drinking a few beers, having a few tokes along the way... :smoke: It's a very Canadian sounding album much like Moving Pictures, but whereas Moving Pictures is an album for downtown Toronto commutes, TfE is for losing yourself in nature. Limbo kicks so much ass it's unreal.
  13. None of them. Geddy Lee is a superb musician and my favourite bassist of all time, but he's the ugliest man I've ever laid eyes on. Why all of you want to jump his bones is beyond me.
  14. I never said anything similar to that. Tom Sawyer and other hits are played so often I was wondering if they needed to be played when the majority of people at Rush concerts are usually die hard fans. Actually, I'm pretty sure that the majority at Rush concerts is made up of casual Rush fans who have greatest hits compilations, semi-serious Rush fans who have a few of the albums, friends of die-hard Rush fans who have been convinced to come along and give the band a chance, classic rock fans who like to see all the old acts that are still playing, people who enjoy rock shows and are out to have a good time, and other assorted folk who want to hear the songs they know, not deep cuts from albums most people don't even know about. Rush probably does have MORE die-hards in their audience than most bands from their era, and certainly enough of those to support them in continuing a career at some level, but it is definitely the seekers of Tom Sawyer and The Spirit Of Radio who make these big tours and fancy productions financially viable. I, for one, am grateful to them! Rush is a polarizing band. I've never met a single soul who liked a few songs but not the rest. It's either "Yeah Man I F*ckin love Rush!" Or it's "Aw man I F*ckin hate Rush!" As I've said previously in the thread, I don't know how anybody can justify going to see a 2+ hour show when they might know 4 songs tops, especially currently when a lot of newer material is played. For instance, I'm not a huge fan of the Stones, but firstly: I would get bored hearing Satisfaction, Start me up, Paint it Black and Miss you. I know them too well and wouldn't WANT to hear them live. Secondly If I'm not a stones fan but like a few of their songs, WHY would I even go to a stones show? Hell, even if I had the money and the time I still wouldn't go because I have little interest in watching a two hour concert of a band I'm not really a fan of. This applies to pretty much any rock band. You don't seem to understand anyone but yourself, which is why this thread was started. Maybe that will change as you grow older. DOHOHOHOHOHO YOU SURE SHOWED ME!!! AM I RIGHT, GUYS? [Circle jerking intensifies]

  17. This is also accurate. I guess people who were 18 in 1981 didn't know what to call 90's music so they lumped it in there with Nirvana and Pearl Jam. :eyeroll: As the other poster said, Calling Everyday Glory grunge is just wrong.

  19. I'm tired of bumping this thread, but I'm not against them because they're mainstream. I'm against them because any self respecting Rush fan should be tired of hearing these songs for the billionth time. I can't even listen to PeW properly anymore because I'm so sick of tSoR. It's good, it's a classic, but I think and I KNOW that there are better songs that could be played that haven't had anywhere near the same level of exposure. ANYONE POSTING AFTER THIS REGARDING THE ORIGINAL TOPIC CAN STOP. ALL THE POINTS HAVE BEEN MADE ALREADY THE SUMMARY OF MY OPINIONS ON THE SUBJECT IS IN THIS VERY POST! STOP CIRCLE JERKING OVER THE SAME THREE ALBUMS ANYONE WHO POSTS AFTER THE LINE BELOW HASN'T READ THE ENTIRE THREAD AND CAN CHOKE ON A BAG OF DICKS _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ you made a thread bitching about how rush doesn't play their worst songs and plays their good songs instead, and when people call you out on it you cry and tell em to eat dicks? Some people like to let their dicks out and then complain after they get bitten See my below post. I've realized the error of my ways after checking setlists and considering what you guys posted. I'm tired of my original post being referenced. A whole other topic has managed to blossom in my thread though, so I'm glad that happened.

I don't just love it it, I luff it. I luuuurve it you might say. Yup. Everyone made their points, I conceded and agreed in the end. At this point I'm tired of people coming in here swinging wildly after reading my original post looking to prove me wrong. I've pretty much caved after checking the setlists throughout the years and seeing the variety of songs played.
  21. Correct. It even sounds too clean at times in my opinion. Calling it grunge is insulting to grunge. Hard rock production values became vogue again after Nevermind was released only 2 weeks after Roll the Bones. This is why Counterparts sounds like it does. A sock full of quarters is heavy when compared to Roll the Bones or Presto. That being said, I still think CP is a strong album.
  22. Alan Moore would like a word with you. But no This is a scenario where you are wrong. You're wrooooong. Do you think I'm kidding? I'm not. Actual graphic novels (See above alan moore comment) are like fully detailed storyboarded movies. Watchmen is a graphic novel and was actually on Time's list of 100 greatest novels. While it may be the cream of the crop in regards to the medium, it's still an incredible piece of fiction that anybody from Generation x onward should read. And it was released in full in 1987. Anyway now that you've proven yourself to be old or just out of touch, I will actually agree with you. Why would I want to read a graphic novel based on a book based on a loosely tied together "concept" album? No I'm serious you guys. The "concept" of CA is flimsier than a 5 dollar hammock. I know they're trying to cash in on Rush's relative modern success but I have no interest in reading the novel or the graphic novel variant.
  23. you didnt piss me off, I just think your kinda lame. But either you'll grow out of it or you will prob get worse about it. Saying you easily piss people off mostly because of your personal beliefs leads me to believe you are probably rather vocal about it. Maybe even looking for reasons to proclaim them publicly. That comes with the expectation of response from people, some good some bad. Hating that about yourself is a common phenomenon in religious culture, self loathing. Wanting what your told not to do. It often leads to a life of cyclical deviant behavior and personal shame. With any luck you'll most likely wind up just passive aggressively oppressing or suppressing yourself and people around you by using your religious views to justify not treating all people equally, and voting against beneficial things for society at large like womens reproductive rights, stem cell research, marriage equality, and proper science education. Hopefully it doesn't lead to violence, like the Catholic clergy problems or serial killing. If you're basing all of this on a couple of posts of his, you're not much better. To be honest it sounds like you're projecting your fears and insecurities about religion onto him. While I agreed with the first half your post (5 sentences) on the last half you totally went off the deep end. I'm an atheist myself but that rant you gave was so edgy I almost cut myself reading it.
  24. I think most people on this forum would rank WTM and LTTA higher than Limbo, but that won't change your opinion. The next time I listen to Limbo, I promise to do so with your enthusiastic mindset, if you promise to listen to Where's My Thing without the crap production by playing the Clockwork Angels Live version. I'll go buy it right now just for you. I wish there was an official live version of limbo. All the the live versions on Youtube are bootlegged cam-rips :(
  25. Hey what beef do you have with Time And Motion, I mean I admit it is no where near their best song, but there are lot's of cool bits to it. Thinking of the steamy synth and the upbeat chord progression parts in particular. I do think it needs a bit better of a glue to it, but I don't see it as awful -Ugly vocal melodies -Terrible chorus -Awful synth tone -Failure to do anything remotely memorable with the main riff While I will agree that the riff doesn't do anything at all really I respectfully disagree about your other 3 points. -Vocals sound of their time kinda but aren't noticeably bad. -The chorus is so unorthodox to me that I enjoy it. -The synth segments are brief and partially hidden behind guitar so I can forgive that. The solo about a third of the way through sounds so raw it's like stone from the Canadian shield being smelted. If you guys aren't from Canada, that's REALLY hard to do! "The mighty ocean dances with the moon~ The silent forest echoes with the loon" Maybe it's cause I'm Canadian or something but these lyrics have a kind of eerie poetic vibe to them.
