I don't see Brad Delp, maybe I missed his name?  His voice *exemplified* Boston's sound.

Seriously? Some of these really have me wondering. When I think of a good vocalist I think of great control, range, power, and sustain as well as a pleasant, as opposed to grating, timbre. Of course, if you further qualify it to music style, you begin to limit talent. If we simply say rock and roll, and not Pop, you do have some great vocalists listed.

My votes go for Lou Graham and Steve Walsh, when they both had their voices in prime mode. Russell Allen is phenomenal when he isn't being to guttural. Rob Halford can have an awesome voice as well. Freddie Mercury is another all-time favorite of mine.

For newer rock singers, I think the best new vocalist is Brent Smith of Shinedown, provided he takes care of his voice. I have heard some live cuts where he is too rough.

I hadn't actually heard Black Oak up until earlier today, when someone posted the same video on a Van Halen thread (was that you, lerxt1990? I can't remember). I've checked other videos now...Jim Dandy has one of the weordest/coolest voices I've ever heard!

Yes that was me.

This kind of band was (obviously) the kind of thing Spinal Tap was making fun of.
