rushgoober
I would have thought THIS would have been an obvious choice:

Hatchetaxe&saw
Brave, and correct choice with The White Album. Helter Skelter must have blown people away in 1968. It's so dense. Dopethrone, love that one. Heavy as lead.
metaldad
QUOTE (Tony R @ Nov 10 2011, 07:07 AM) No Sabbath, Metallica, Maiden, Meshuggah This is why all lists Suck
BethOfSyrinx
Ugh, Kerrang.. Putting new and talentless acts on their front pages for 13 year old girls to buy it and rake in the cash. They used to be somewhat good.. Before i was born.

J0N
Dopethrone is the only one close to deserving to be there.

Enemy Within 77
QUOTE (J0N @ Nov 10 2011, 12:12 PM) Dopethrone is the only one close to deserving to be there. Funeralopolis alone makes it worthy.
Tony R
It depends what you mean by "heavy". but no doubt there are far heavier bands out there. Sabbath et al don't even come close. Edited November 10, 2011 by Tony R
Stormtron
Electric Wizard and Sleep are good choices. I love Mastodon too, but if I was putting them on a heavy list it'd be with Remission. I don't get the white album being on there. Sure, HS was heavy for it's time, but that's still only one song out of thirty. Edited November 10, 2011 by Storm Shadow
-Jane-
Slayer rules, and Dopethrone is pretty cool, but no Black Sabbath makes the list invalid. That is all.

Xanadoood
That has always been the debate...who and what is Heavy? I think there are certain bands who belong on a list like this for their influence , not so much that they are heavier than others, but because they influenced a lot of modern bands to bring it up a notch. Sabbath, Metallica, Motorhead etc..

adace1
Dopethrone and Meshuggah's stuff are definitely up there but so are Nile's first album, funeral doom like Ahab, as well as the band Boris.
