  1. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Nov 26 2011, 09:17 AM) QUOTE (HowItIs @ Nov 23 2011, 01:52 AM) I found the official bacon-lover's Thanksgiving turkey: http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lv3ca8O4oG1qzh5uho1_500.jpg How could something that looks so wrong feel so right? Would you remove the skin and replace it with the bacon?? I think that would be the way to go. I think I would be using some applewood smoked extra thick (9/11) bacon. Center cut preferred. This actually looks like it would be pretty tasty.
  2. ALLAN HOLDSWORTH THE underlying theme.
  3. Skill helps you play songs. Creativity helps you improvise on them and also write your own music.

From 1975 through 1979, the walls in my room were COVERED with all things KISS. (Mom and Dad really loved that) It was KISS all the time, day and night. I wonder what they thought of some of the lyrics (if they were paying any attention) on some of the tunes Gene penned as well as a few others in the KISS collection.... I had a Kiss poster or two perhaps when I was that young, but not many. I seriously admired my friend's rooms that were plastered with Kiss posters. I did have the four interlocking posters from the Kiss solo albums, however, that I taped in the back to make one big poster - that was cool. And yeah, it's really funny that I was listening to Love Gun and other very suggestive songs at such a young age - obviously I had no clue what any of that meant until later. When I did finally realize it, I was shocked. Shock me! Plaster Caster....

QUOTE (CygnusX-1Bk2 @ Nov 20 2011, 05:59 AM) QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Nov 17 2011, 03:14 PM) QUOTE (CygnusX-1Bk2 @ Nov 17 2011, 04:15 PM) QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Nov 15 2011, 08:44 PM) I just need a Tele and I'll be set with guitars. Me too! I'm still kicking myself for not jumping on a Mexican Tele I stumbled upon in GC a few months ago. Never before have I seen an off the rack guitar scream "BUY ME NOW!!!!" like that one did. It was flawless, and better than any American Tele I've played. But I just couldn't spare the funds. My buddy who bought the Mexi Strat stumbled upon a Squier Tele from China which has become his main guitar over his ES 339, Les Paul Deluxe and the Strat. Got it for the whopping total of $180 out the door. We have recorded with that guitar several times over the past few months (including the track you heard) and I think that is how I will solve my Tele solution. It is really nice, though he replaced the jack plate from plastic to metal. Little girls with tiny hands earning twelve cents a week are making some very playable Fenders. Buying an American Fender is a crap shoot and a waste of money. I have worked on three MIM Strats in the last month and they both have had some serious finish flaws. I've also noticed that the worst necks, as far as straightness and over all craftsmanship, have been the MIM necks followed by the MIA stuff. The MIA Fenders aren't cheap either. Sure, there are a lot of good ones, but for the most part I've not been too blown away with a lot of newer Fenders I've seen lately that have come through the shop. I have been most impressed with the Squier Classic Vibe series guitars and basses. The quality is way above what I had ever expected. I have tried out many CV and VM Jazz Basses and the CV Jazz Basses blow the VM's away by a mile. If anyone likes the sound of the VM Jazz Basses, I really think the best idea would be to get a CV Jazz Bass and switch out the pickups to ones that are more like the VM ones. I swapped out the pickups in my CV Jazz Bass for the Fender Original Jazz Bass pickups and the thing sounds great. Only problem for some might be that CV Jazz Basses are only available in Olympic White and have a rosewood dot neck wheras the VM Jazz Basses are available in Black and natural wood finish and they have a maple fretboard with 'pearl' block inlays. It looks nice but the satin finish makes it look cheap. The boards are flatter and evey one that I tried had nasty fret ends that could give someone some nice cuts if they weren't careful. To each their own, but the better quality of the Squier stuff is the Classic Vibe series. No contest there. Just my .02.
  9. Since my wife owns more than ten pairs of shoes and we don't have kids, I guess I can keep buying more basses. .......If I wasn't so frigging in debt. So, no more basses.
  10. I know it's expensive.....but this is why they should film/record more than just one city. They don't need to make it a massive production. I just got the dvd yesterday. I will watch it sometime soon to see the Presto 'fix' as well as the overall performance. I've read lots of bitching about Geddy's vocals and the mix being horrible.. I don't have a 5.1 surround system. Just stereo L&R. I'm sure it's going to be pretty good.
  11. QUOTE (RUSHian62 @ Nov 8 2011, 02:44 PM) Rosewood necks forever!!! Fretboards
  12. Sure looks like a rosewood board to me.
  13. What was the 'flub' in Presto?? Best Buy has the blu-ray with a RASH T-Shirt for $24.99. Too bad I don't have a blu-ray player or I'd have the shirt too. Like I need another T-shirt.
  14. Yes...nice top for sure. No pickup ring?? Hopefully, it won't get confiscated by the wood police. Congrats!!
