Locking eyes with Geddy Lee while singing along during the ENTIRE first chorus of Manhattan Project. During the phrase "the big bang took and shook the world..." I made a hand gesture resembling an explosion. During the end of the next chorus Geddy mimicked it before switching back to keys. One of my heroes copied me as opposed to the other way around.

  1. Right. Currently, Spidey flicks have 2-3 record with me. Bad = Spidey 3 > Crap > Amazing Spidey 1 > Amazing Spidey 2 Not sure if it's "too much Spider-Man" though. It'll be the 6th Spidey flick in fifteen years compared to 6 Middle Earth movies in thirteen years and 8 Harry Potter films in ten. I still think they should abandon Spider Man altogether and get Watchmen back on track. It's impossible to properly do Watchmen in 2 or 3 hours. You couldn't even really do it in 3 parts. Watchmen would need to be a mini-series with no limitations on graphic violence or sexual content. I feel that so much of the movie was so right and so wrong at the same time. I still like it but I understand most of the criticism it gets. Best way to do it would be to have a 12 part Netflix miniseries complete with the articles at the end of each chapter. That way there would be no constraint on episode length.
  2. I considered this set from the Franklin Mint when it first came out, but at this point in my life, I can't be bothered with learning the 'new' rules and such. My EX bro-in-law had one, don't know if he still does. NO connection with My EX-wife's family at all now. I DO have a first edition REGULAR chess set, normal format but with silver and gold plated figures on a glass and silver metal playing board. I still have THAT. http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Me%20stuff/My%20Stuff-%20Original%20Franklin%20Mint%20Star%20Trek%20Chess%20Set.jpg http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j223/OldRUSHfan/Banana%20World/Woo%20Hoo%20banana.png I didn't know that was a thing. Very nice!
  3. That was very funny. :laughing guy: Thank you for the early morning laugh. By the way Johnny, you ought to give yourself a prize for being the closest. I say Fraroc gets it. He was the closest without going over :P ((psst...hey...there is no February 31st)) :hail: ;) If you fix that clerical error it becomes early match. It's fine. Fraroc was drunk, but correct :D-13: :smoke:

I'm personally looking forward to this. Toby Maguire can't ruin spidey/peter with his inability to act as a human being and I felt they captured Spidey pretty well with what little they showed in Civil War.

  6. I don't want it myself but it'd be a cool gift. Definitely a hell of a gift. Thing is it's insanely expensive for what it is at the full price on the Star Trek site. I got lucky and snagged the last copy for cheap from a board game shop. What's nice is that it actually has a rulebook. It will never replace a proper game of chess but it's nice to be able to pull it off of the shelf and actually play it every so often. So it's not just a showpiece. Given that there's a Klingon language learning book, I figured you could actually play chess on that. I'm picturing some doughy looking geek in Spock ears and matching uniform sitting behind that board and putting the pic up on their Facebook wall. If you're thinking that's me I'm sorry to say you're quite far from reality with that one. I don't post much of anything on facebook and I don't own much else in terms of Trek stuff beyond DVDs. As for doughy... by the end of the holidays I think that will apply.

  8. It would seem that the main appeal of this movie is so Harry Potter fans can return to their fantasy. I found the characters to be about as generic as they come.
  9. I can't help but smile when I go outside and see a fresh coat of snow on everything. It's so nice to see an unbroken, puffy coat of snow covering everything from the streets to the skyline. Aside from that no it does not.
  10. When they reprinted these for the Star Trek 50th anniversary it was an insta-buy for me. http://i.imgur.com/S0oHHDw.jpg
  11. That wasn't the Enterprise. The Enterprise (barely) survived Into Darkness. Both Kirks had their Enterprises beat to hell in their second movie. Both Kirks lost their Enterprises in their third movie. Of all the complaints I see about the new Trek movies, I don't understand the complaint that the Enterprise keeps getting destroyed. It just doesn't. The alternate reality Enterprises have been destroyed at about the same pace as the prime reality ones. The Wrath of Kahn, The Search for Spock, The Undiscovered Country, Generations, First Contact, Insurrection, Nemesis, Trek'09, Into Darkness and Beyond have all ended with either a destroyed, or severely damaged Enterprise. If anyone has a bad record with getting Enterprises beat up in movies... it's Picard. Whoops my bad. I was falling asleep by the end of Into Darkness. Oh god movie Picard was a psychopath. In the series he was the calm, calculating diplomat who despite becoming locutus felt sympathy for a drone. Suddenly in First Contact he's the Terminator of Starfleet that shows no mercy.
  12. I'm not a huge Metallica fan. On my first listen only Hardwired and Moth to the Flame really stood out and found that about half of the songs sounded samey/cookie cutter metal... which is great when I need fast paced tracks and stay focused on a late night of work so I kept it playing. Since then I'd say Spit out the Bone is fantastic. I love the section at the end where it goes "Stop breathing and dedicate to me...", Lords of Summer also being pretty good and Atlas Rise being part of the better half of the album. I still think Moth to the Flame is the best song on the album but I think the hype machine is still in full force here.
  13. That's why I've skipped it too. But a lot of TRFers have sworn to its goodness. Might be worth checking out then. This Kirk is goddamn incompetent though. The second movie starts with a slapstick "lol we just violated the prime directive what could go wrong it seemed ok" moment, and ends with the Enterprise crashing into San Francisco. The trailers for Beyond then goes about boasting about how Kirk gets the thing destroyed again. Maybe Starfleet needs to find a better captain. At least Shatner made it the 5 year mission and 3 movies before blowing it up.
  14. Would you prefer the alternative where they add in Hulk, remove most of the violence and make the tone light-hearted with plenty of jokes?
