I can see why Hitch considers this his all time favorite film he made, but as to why he thinks it's his best, we'll never know as he never said much other than he thinks it's his favorite.

If this film had a different name I would have no idea it had anything to do with the 1971 Michael Caine classic. Stalone and co produced a very dull thriller with this remake. I will say this though, Mickey Rourke has a supporting role and he at least delivers, as usual.

:madra: This is a superior swashbuckler! There's battles, there's blood, there's death, there's guts! There's swords and shields, rape and pillage, there's DEATH! And more battles and guts! And BLOOD! And there's killing and slaughter and butchery! :madra:

And because it's the director's cut there's even more blood and guts and death and swordplay and battles and beatings and asskickings and DEATH and BLOOD! And even more guts! :madra:

You've got a powerhouse team of knights! Obviously Mads Mickklesen is the psycho of the group, Ray Winstone plays the HARD BASTARD, Clive Owen plays the courageous leader, Ioan Gruffudd plays the restless sneaky devil, Keira Knightly plays the pouty tart, Steven Dillane plays the magical madman and Stellen Skarsgard as the beastly brutish bitch! :madra:

You've got snow and weather and mountains and forests and WAR! :madra: And even more blood and guts and DEATH and fights and dust ups and skirmishes and betrayals and swords to the guts! :madra: And BLOOD and DEATH! And WAR! :madra:

You'll be reaching for the butter knife to do some shadow swashbuckling after seeing this one! :madra:

:hi:

You know, if I hadn't seen the movie and knew it sucks big time, by your review I'd be all over it...

 The story isn't so great and it's nothing to do with the traditional King Arthur tale but it's great for fights :madra: ....and battles, and blood, and fire, spears in the guts, and DEATH! ...and giant catapults and flames, and swords and blood and guts and slashing and burning and death and ice! And Blood and guts and death and battles and war and pouty tart swordplay and fear and death and BLOOD! :madra:

I was SO let down by Clive's perfomance in this movie. He looks like a fish outta the fishbowl the whole time. He goes up to the castle walls, looks around and has a face that says: I'm pissing myself. He gets to bang KEIRA K and has a face that says: I'm afraid. He gets on the horse with his best armour and has a face that says: I'm gonna fall off this bloody horse. I swear, it's his worse character ever.

Woah, this is not a movie, this is a CHORE!!!

Really, it seemed it would never end. There's a lot to appreciate here: first of all the writing, that creates A LOT of characters and twists strange relationships between them. But really, the rhythm is lacking and the empathy is low. Anyway, you have the good cop going blind, the hot secretary bound in a sick love story with a tv star that cheats on her, an old teacher plagued by the memory of one of his pupils committing suicide, a geeky student that loves making bombs falling in love with a street-gang girl, an old lady in a forbidden relationship with a local politician. They all end up in a bank that scammed its clients with Euro-bonds.

It's a strange mess between police drama, bank robbery movie, bank hostage movie, social commentary. Good quality but really, you need a lot of free time to stomach this.

I thought this was an horror movie, but really it's more like an underdog superhero movie, about a girl with MPD that turns into... Spider-Girl, for lack of a better word. A lot of eye candy and the by-now usual horror flick tropes. OK at best.

I've been watching all the Harry Potter films this week. Some fantastic films, a couple of dull ones...

But aside from also being addicted to the show Mad Men this week, I also got the chance to watch the new Miyazaki film, The Wind Rises (a masterpiece) and the ridiculously awesome Tokyo Godfathers (an anime for all who misunderstand anime).
