Rod in Toronto
My definition of "cold hearted b*tch" was updated after watching this film. I know English speakers have an issue with subtitles, but this one is worth the effort, IMO. Check it out!
Rod in Toronto
http://static.srcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/batman-v-superman-final-trailer-imax-poster.jpg First time watching this since the cinema. It's gotten worse. Lex Luthor was an absolute joke. What were they thinking?! And what was whatshisname doing in the Luthor role?! It was worse than Ahnold as Mister Freeze. I've got too many complaints with this movie so I'm going with what I thought was good: Gal Gadot was a hot and good Wonder Woman, Batfleck was very surprisingly decent, various Batman fight scenes (including the Supes one), Jeremy Irons as Alfred. That movie was a full on BORE-fest for me. Even Affleck I felt couldn't save Batman as well as this movie. Another thing that was truly awful about this film is Holly Hunter´s performance. It´s hard to point this out since there are a million other flaws in it, but she´s REALLY bad here too. Completely out of her element.

Check out another foreign language classic from Paul Verhoeven: Black Book The most enjoyable war movie ever I think. I love it so much!

bluefox4000
La La Land this is like my 3rd viewing. i wanted to see it one more time before it leaves my local theater. this time i really watched it. i loved the 2 leads. great chemestry. i really loved the colors and they made LA look just beautiful. One thing that's hard to do in musicals is make songs a smooth and seamless part of the story without making you shake your head in embarrassment when it's time to sing. Luckily this film i felt never suffered from that. and i loved they had the guts to take LONG extended dance scenes as well. that said if i had to point out one small flaw.....and it is small to me because everything else works. is the story. from 1st viewing i felt i knew the beats before they happened. spoilers 2 struggling people they both have dreams. they meet......not fond of each other. but oh they fall in love. they're happy. but oh no guy sells out dream. big argument. they split. and so it goes. i did like the ending though. interesting. but all in all i love it more each viewing. so 9/10 Mick Edited March 2, 2017 by bluefox4000
Fordgalaxy
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/ed/Bananas_(movie_poster).jpg Howard Cossell !J Edgar Hoover ! Forgot about a then very young and unknown Sly Stallone's cameo in this. Not to be too pedantic, but if he was unknown, it wouldn't be a cameo. It would have been as an extra or something similar. invisible airwave
Elysium. Tries hard to be good but is just a snooze fest. Foster is my favorite living actress but this was a token bad one for her. Horrible accent. Damon is a badass beast in this though.

EagleMoon
Bell, Book and Candle. Hadn't seen this in years and forgot Jack Lemmon was in it. Jimmy Stewart always seems funny to me as a love interest but Kim Novak did a great job being the cold and distant Gillian.

Good movie but damn that ending is bleak! Saw this a while ago. The ending was a shocker, a bit bleak as you say. It left an impression on me, ending especially, didn't expect it to go that way/far .Great film.

Good movie but damn that ending is bleak! One of my all time favorites. I think every time I see it I still notice something new as far as lighting or the way shots are set up. Really masterfully done, but yeah, the ending is stark.

Really masterfully done, but yeah, the ending is stark. This morning I read that the screenwriter had a more typical ending: Evelyn shooting her father dead and winding up in prison Thinking about that, I think Polanski's final version (which is what we got) IS actually "better". That screenwriter, years later, admitted that too.

I agree-this was very good! We saw it about a month ago. I'd enjoy more viewings because Christian Bale was so good in the lead. Also, Mr. blues and I could never figure out exactly what was going on with Ryan Gosling and Deutsche Bank!
blueschica
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SriaRRcA6w Goose suggested this movie a little while ago and I want to give him a big thanks! It's about Beach Boy Brian Wilson and the making of his album Smile. (It was supposed to be the follow up to Pet Sounds.) I have read so many old stories about Brian being really out of it on LSD during this time, and this movie shows he wasn't. It was very interesting and sweet to see his genius at work. Thanks, Goose!
